What if they try to give me an MRI? I still have bullets in me, I can't get one. It'll kill me. But I wouldn't mind. It's a cool way to go out.
My pulse is so high, the alarms keep going off constantly. Same with my blood pressure. And everything.
It's only been a half hour. I was fine before, what did they give me? Did they sedate me so I wouldn't move and mess anything else up? Did they give me a paralytic?
It doesn't matter.
A nurse came in and said they're taking me to surgery.
I reached for the mask, preparing for the inability to breathe.
"There's still bullets in me" I whispered, then put the mask back on.
"Bullets?" The nurse asked.
I nodded.
"How many?"
I didn't have the energy to move anymore.
She took my mask off.
"Two" I whispered again.
She left, coming back after a few minutes.
"We're taking you to surgery right now, alright?"
I nodded.
Two more nurses walked in, one with more anesthesia.
"She's gonna need more anesthesia than last time, it didn't work"
"Got it"
I started moving again.
The mask was taken off again.
"Can you breathe without it?" A nurse asked me.
I shook my head.
A new mask was placed over my face.
"Count back from ten"
Ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
Four...
Three.
Two.
One.
Zero.
I kept breathing in the anesthesia, but I couldn't pass out.
"Turn it up"
"It's already at the maximum"
"She'll have to be awake. Give her a paralytic"
Awake? Is that even possible? Is that even LEGAL? I don't think so. But it's not my decision because I'm a minor. I'll have to be in pain?
I felt something stab my arm, then I was fully unable to move or breathe.
"She's not breathing, get the bag"
Then something was breathing for me.
A purple coloured thing was placed where the mask would be, the nurse was pumping it.
The doors flinging open startled me, I could only blink.
I was placed on the operating table, my gown was removed. I don't feel comfortable doing this.
I closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep. The surgical lights were too bright.
A tube was shoved down my throat, breathing for me too.
I could hear the surgeon asking for different tools, but I couldn't see the assistants handing the tools to them.
I could only squint at the pain.
The surgeon was asking questions to me, not knowing I couldn't respond.
"So what's your name?"
"Her name is Aria"
"How old is she?"
"Eleven"
"So young for something so traumatic"
I heard a bullet clink on the metal tray.
"Intestinal damage, we'll have to stitch that up as well"
"Got it"
I felt the needle poking through my intestines, the pain made my eyes water. It felt terrible. I was only comforted by the fact that I would be able to eat again.
"Have they talked to the dad yet?"
"No, they will tomorrow"
"What even happened to her?"
"She says she was kidnapped, the man would shoot her for no reason. They think she's delusional, but we'll have to question her"
Isn't this a HIPPA violation?
The needle poking through my skin didn't hurt as much. I've had stitches before, but it hurt more.
I felt relieved when it was over.
They put me back in my room, the paralytic had worn off.
They have me on morphine and said they would have tests tomorrow morning.
I don't want any tests.
I don't want to go home.
I like it better her now.
Even though I get seriously injured very frequently.
It feels more like home than home feels like home.
I think that home is a place where you feel comfortable. And a hospital certainly isn't one of them. But everywhere else does.
My stomach hurts less, but it still hurts a little bit.
My eyes watered at the pain.
It was nothing like I had ever felt.
A knock on the door startled me, I came out of my deep thoughts.
"Come in!" I took the mask off.
A doctor in a white coat walked in.
He had black hair and a mask on. Glasses too.
"Are you Aria?" He asked.
I nodded.
"We have a few officers coming to talk to you about the incident"
I nodded again.
"Your dad will be in the room with you as well, to back anything up"
I nodded.
"They'll be here soon, I'll let you know when"
I nodded.
Then he left.
I didn't get a good look at his name tag. As a matter of fact, I don't think he even had one at all. I took the mask off again, breathing heavily.
It feels weird breathing.
I could see detective tsukauchi outside of the rooms window, leading to the outside world.
He got out of a car, Aizawa followed behind him.
Where's Cayden?
He's probably at Aizawa's house, watching YouTube or something.
A knock on the door.
"They're here"
I put my mask on, taking a breath before mentally preparing myself to break down.
