This was wrong... if he'd only had a little more time, he could have found a way to save her.

When they'd heard that Fang had reappeared with the Varden the day before, he had gone to tell Fallyn immediately. She had betrayed no emotion, only smiling sadly at him.

Now the Varden had Fang back... but that put Fallyn in a dangerous position. If anything went wrong if Galbatorix threatened her...

He watched the black dragon take off with the other two riders.

"There were more... the elves were hiding others," Murtagh realised, watching the two elven riders follow Fang's lead. "And Fang is desperate... we're running out of time."

"She has never been this aggressive in battle," Thorn agreed. "Even our battle over Dras Leona didn't possess this much violence."

Murtagh healed the wounds, then noticed Saphira flying towards the palace. His blood ran cold.

"No... no! He's going to get her killed!" he swung himself back into Thorn's saddle as the dragon lept into the air after the blue dragon.

The white and silver dragons would slow him down, though neither seemed intent on stopping him.

"Gods, please let me get to her before anything happens!" he thought desperately.
