Fang threw back her head and gave a mighty keen, which startled many. Revas and Suledin reached out to her, worried that Fang mourned her Rider's passing, only to learn that she had experienced the passing of her egg-brother, through her Rider.
It had been a passing experience, but something that had reached across their bond. They also knew that Fallyn had used more magic than she was physically able to, as Alrahd cursed that he could feel the excessive use of dream magic so far from the realm of dreams.
The Varden were pushing ever further into the city, as the soldiers had lost the will to fight after their commander had fallen. That, combined with the sight of three dragons tearing apart their defences, had broken their spirits while the Varden were empowered. The elves, too, had found strength in it, despite the death of their queen.
As they were flying, circling overhead, the sound of something else drew their attention. Fang felt the strange, twisting sensation of dream magic, and saw that Alrahd was casting powerful magic. The citadel suddenly exploded outwards, and the purpose of the magic was made evident, as an orb of light swallowed the energy born from the explosion. Fang was forced to fly high to avoid flying debris and boulders as big as her head. The same problem came for Suledin, though Revas was forced to remain completely still while Alrahd worked his magic. The debris collided with an invisible wall before him, disintegrating into dust that wafted around him with enough force to still be dangerous to others.
Fang felt fear lance through her.
"Vhenan!"
She could still sense her Rider, but that did not silence her fear.
"Hurry and return her to me," she thought, her red eyes searching the destruction. "Oh please, let me see her whole and alive!"
Impatient to see her again, the dragon began winging her way towards the ruined citadel, with Revas and Suledin close behind.
