"When exactly were you expecting this friend?" Nasuada asked, for the umpteenth time.

"Any day now," Fang responded. "I am no less anxious than yourself, Nightwalker, but please. Your constant nagging eats at my own fears."

"I'm sorry," Nasuada sighed. "I just hope Galbatorix has not taken notice of this friend and done something to them."

A plume of smoke escaped Fang's nostrils as she snorted in amusement.

"That is a battle we would have heard far and wide," Fang asserted. "If they have not yet arrived, it may be that something along the way has caught their interest. However, they know that if they have not received word from Fallyn for more than a day, that something is wrong and they are needed with the Varden with all haste."

"How would we have known them as allies?" Nasuada demanded.

"It would have been obvious," Fang insisted. "Of course, they may have contacted the elves first, in order to determine the situation. If the reason contact was lost was that the Varden had failed, they may have returned to Thedas."

"Could they have done that?" Nasuada questioned. "Should we perhaps go find them personally?"

"It would take too long to fly there and back again," Fang said. "Besides, you are hardly dressed for the flight across that distance over the sea."

Nasuada conceded the point and resumed her pacing.

"Could you fly out and see if they have arrived yet?" she asked, after almost an hour of silence.

With a mighty heave, Fang stood then moved to the mouth of the cave.

"Remain safe," Fang said. "Otherwise, Fallyn's sacrifice would have been in vain."
