Funky's Unwanted Promise

S1, E6: Great Guy

Barnett can't see Expo anymore, he didn't even say goodbye. Before he starts the day, he decided to write a letter to Expo.

Dear Expo,
Funky caught us hanging out and won't let me see you again, this letter is a goodbye to you. I hope we can see each other someday sooner or later, I hope we can still be friends!
Sincerely your friend, Barnett.

He does his morning routine and went to send the letter to the mailbox, nobody does mail anymore so Funky doesn't check on it but the mailman did.

He took the mail and sent it to Expo's hotel, Remy saw the mailman when he was playing outside. He took out the mail and gave it to Expo as it says her name on the letter, Expo was eating her carrots so she put it down and read the letter.

She sighed and kept the letter in a drawer, she wrote a letter back to him.

Dear Barnett,
Thank you for letting me know, I assume a letter exchange will consider to be interacting with each other. Yes we are still friends, see you someday sooner or later!
Yours truly, Exponent.

She gave the letter to Remy and he puts it in the mailbox, he went to continue playing. Barnett received the mail and is thrilled to hear the news, he went back inside.

From now on Funky kept a close watch on Barnett, he didn't try to be suspicious or is being suspicious but Funky just kept an eye on him. Barnett is trying to change Funky but it wasn't working, but it's like their bond grew closer.

Maple and Pixtor thought they have a crush on each other and try to help them, Pixtor: "Barnett, Funky keeps on looking at you. It's like he likes you, do you like him back?"

Barnett: "He stares at me because he doesn't trust me, I just want him to change...", Pixtor: "Well that's something but you look at him too, do you like him tho?"

He turned red and hesitate to answer, Barnett: "Look it doesn't matter, he's homophobic and I need to change him before liking him...".

Pixtor: "So you do like him, we can help you!", Barnett covers his face that he exposed himself but wait: "What do you mean, we?".

Maple: "Me too but bad news, I talked with Funky and he is homophobic. I didn't say you like him or look at him, so let's change that!", Barnett: "I appreciate your helps ladies but he is like the bad trio traits 'homophobic, racist and sexist', it's gonna be tough".

Maple: "But I'm a they/them female, black and straight, I'm fine talking to him?", Pixtor: "And I'm she/her female, white and bisexual, why did he hire us then?"

Barnett: "Look he is alright, if he shows it to anyone nobody wants to work here. I have to do this on my own, at least he will listen to me", Pixtor and Maple still want to help but does it secretly.

For a moment, Funky went to have a drink and ask if Barnett wants to drink with him. He accepts his offer and went to the bar, it was a great opportunity to help them.

Funky: "Hey Azra, give me my usual please.", Azra: "Will be out shortly, what about you Barnett?". Barnett: "It's been a while since I drank alcohol, give me the same as Funky", Funky: "It's a pretty strong drink, are you sure you can handle it? You can be drunk with just a few shots, I don't want you to be clumsy while cleaning.".

Barnett: "I don't know a lot of drinks, I never got drunk before.", Maple: "What's up gang, mind if I drink with y'all?". Funky: "Yes, where is Pixtor?", Maple: "She is 20 years old, not old enough to drink!".

Barnett: "*Whisper* Why are you here, I know what you are trying to do?!", Maple: "Relax Barnes, I'm here to have a good time!".

Azra: "Here are your drinks, oh Maple what will you have?", Maple: "Woah you guys are getting tequila, I'm just gonna get wine!".

Funky: "That is so lame, but it does give you a good time" takes a sip, Barnett: "*Whisper* Try not to do anything funny, or get drunk!".

Maple: "You are so lame Barnes, have some fun!", after brief shots later the three got drunk. Maple: "Hey Funky, did I ever tell you how great Barnett is?", Barnett: "Noooo Maple, don't flatter me!".

Funky: "No, you didn't tell me but I do know that Barnett is a great guy!", Barnett: "Really, I thought you hated me?". Funky: "Why would I hate you, you are like... great?!", Barnett: " I know I'm great, but I thought you hate me because I'm bisexual!?".

Funky: "Well... I don't hate hate you, it's just that I'm not gay and I don't know if I want to change that.", Barnett: "At least try not to be negative, we won't force you to be gay!".

Funky: "Yeah okay, I will make an effort", Maple: "Too bad we won't remember this after being sober, maybe we would because people usually sleep and do not think back.".

Azra watches them the entire time and thinks if she would tell them, they fell asleep on the counter and forgets about the conversations.

Maple: "Ow dang, my head hurts. Oh my goodness, Funky and Barnett are super close to each other!". Barnett: "What-? Oh damn, why is my face so close to Funky's!?", Maple: "Calm down pale boy, we fell asleep on the counter after getting drunk.".

Funky: "What- why-... Azra, what happened?", Azra: "Nothing crazy, you should leave there is drool all over my dang counter!".

Funky: "If it isn't crazy, it ain't important.", Barnett: "Damn right, I hope the conversation ain't worth to recall.". Azra: "Yup, none of them are...", the guys left but Maple stayed behind. Maple: "What really happened?", Azra: "Sorry, can't ruin the fun!".
