Dear Diary,

Today has been the most exciting day EVER!

I still can't believe I actually won first place and a $500 cash prize in our school avant-garde art competition!

As I spin in my chair

Last week, without even telling me Chloe,Jenny and Brandon entered photos of the tattoo designs I had drawn for kids at school

So I totally freaked out when I found out I had won! Who would have thought I'd beat Mackenzie fashion illustrations

And boy was she ticked! Especially after bragging to everyone that she was going to win

Storming of the stage which did make me feel good

Feeling like I finally won for ONCE!

I can't wait to get my hands on all that money! Even if half is going to my family for "Safe Keeping"

I had originally planned to use it to buy a new cell phone, but I decided it would be more prudent to save it for the future

Although, it would be cool to use the money to fix up my locker with decorations

Anyway practically the entire school was at the avant-garde art awards banquet today

I was very shocked when Mackenzie came over and complimented

I think she only did it to make a good impression because what she said to me was not very appropriate

Even getting scolded by her parents which made me laugh a little

She should have just scribbled

"I'M SO JEALOUS"

Across her forehead as I laugh at my own joke, smiling ear to ear

I was like "Thanks Mackenzie, not everyone can be good as me" giving her a fake smile

Luckily because we we're further away from people no one heard me as I patted her on the shoulder and walked away

Feeling so confident in myself

Chloe and Jenny sat right next to me during dinner

And as usual we were acting really silly and laughing

When Brandon came over to take a picture of me for the school newspaper and yearbook

I couldn't even remember the expression I made

all I remember that my two friends made peace signs posing for the camera

He suggested that we go to the atrium across the hall, where the lighting was better

So we decided to follow but the entire time they kept goofing off

I just prayed he wasn't offended by it trying to keep a calm demeanor

Chloe and Jenny are really nice and sweet friends but sometimes I get embarrassed by them

Lucky for me, when they heard dessert was being served they rushed back

Making me laugh nervously

Only it was kind of uncomfortable and a little embarrassing because instead of talking, we just stared at each other and then the surroundings

Wondering if I should speak up

After awhile he brushed his shaggy bangs out of his eyes and smiled at me kind of shy like

"I told you, you were going to win. Congratulations!"

Rubbing his neck nervously

"..... thanks" I say not wanting to leave him hanging or come off rude

Not wanting to stare him in the eyes I decided to look elsewhere hoping I wasn't making it obvious

After another ETERNITY! I say dragging it on sighing

"So, I..... I'm want to ask you something..."

Finally looking him in the eyes curious what he wanted to say

"I wanted to know if.... you"

Tilting my head hoping he continued

"Brandon!!" As we both turned our heads towards Mackenzie

Mackenzie barged into the room and headed straight for Brandon

"As the official school photographer, you really need to get a picture of me posing with my fashion illustrations, they're about to take down the display!"

Mackenzie says cheerfully

"Brandon please hurry! Before it's too late!" She whined pulling his sleeve putting on a pouting face

"Um..... sure" looking uncomfortable

"We talk later Nikki"

After they walked away I whispered "she didn't even win" under my breath pouting that I didn't get a chance

I didn't even get to hear what Brandon was going to say? He might have even been trying to ask me to go to the Halloween dance but Mackenzie ruined it

As I headed back to my friends I wished I spoke up more but for some reason no words would come out of my mouth which frustrated

Say anything!? I acted like a complete stranger and cold to him

As I face palmed sighing in regret
