He revived Parikshit because Ashwatthama killed him against his destiny. He was destined to live and carry on the pandava lineage futher. But Ashwatthama in order to take revenge of his father’s death from Pandavas, killed him and Lord Krishna revived him so that the course of destiny is not altered.
