Tony rolled his eyes, taking another sip of whiskey before turning his gaze towards you.
"What makes you believe i'm not capable of being an Avenger?"
All conversations suddenly came to a halt, as Iron man stared blankly towards you. As soon as his lips widened for words to be released, he was quickly silenced by the intimidating voice of Nick Fury.
"That's enough. Clint, you're turn." All eyes suddenly towards the exhausted man.
During the entire argument, he had just been resting, with his hand covering his eyes that didn't fool anybody to the fact he was dead asleep. To Fury's statement, no response or movement came from Hawkeye.
"CLINT BARTON!" Nick finally yelled, slamming the table. Hawkeye had jumped up in horror, quickly running his eyes back to reality. The wobbly table still discreetly shook, as the sound of ice hitting glass ricochet through the echoing room.
"Wait what are we— Oh yeah. Negative." Was all that escaped his mouth. Natasha laughed at his foolishness, however nick looked appalled at the unprofessionalism.
"Any reason?" Phil said.
Clint sighed. "Be honest with yourselves. Who knows what she'll get up to. She's not a regular human being. I believe she should stay here until we know she is completely tame."
"Is this your revenge for me humiliating you in front of your wife?" You snickered.
He shrugged. "Yeah, basically."
You rolled your eyes in response while he just shrugged and returned to daydreaming.
"Steve." Fury suddenly stated.
"I mean.. I don't know honestly." The entire table shifted their focus towards steve, who looked to be in a confused haze of thoughts.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Black widow replied.
"I'm just.. I have mixed feelings about it all." Your heart had dropped. You knew you were most likely going to get forced into the business, but you gained a sense of relief knowing that Steve was part of the voting process, so he could be your only hope, but instead his words pierced your heart and disorientated your trust.
"I believe that Y/n has her rights, her right to freedom. She faced her consequences, she gave valid arguments, there's really no reason to have her imprisoned here. I believe that Y/n has more purpose than to just be chucked onto the streets, once again living a horrid lifestyle fending for scraps and resorting to a life of crime, we have the ability to help and turn her into.. an Avenger." Everyone had struggled processing what he said, even you were at a loss for words.
"I'm neither negative or affirmative, but I believe that we should provide Y/n with shelter and care. The reason why she did what she did in the first place was because she was struggling to make ends meet. We should give her a permanent room within the tower, or even use her abilities for good to become one of us" Steve finally stated, as if a burden had been released from his shoulders, he looked guilty for admitting it.
"So what you're saying is, we invite Y/N to the avengers initiative?" Nick fury asked.
"Practically yeah, her powers have great potential, an can serve great advantages in missions." Steve replied. Nick Fury nodded in response, with his finger caressing his chin whilst his eyes zoned out.
"Vision." Phil stated.
"Captain is correct. Y/n is a regular person, who has her rights to freedom. It is morally wrong for us to imprison and force her into a program in which she does not wish to pursue, however throwing her out of the entire initiative is wasted potential, as well as a hazard to the civilians." Vision had announced with a clear, smooth voice.
