Colby enters his class with one thought in mind: talk to the mysterious boy known as Sam. He knows he can get away with it in this class, his main circle of friends aren't in this period, being sat by someone he has no interest in being friends with, only talking with them to have someone to talk to and keep entertained.
Today, however, he makes a beeline to where the blonde sits, unbothered and alone. He sets his bag down and claims the empty seat, startling the quiet boy slightly upon hearing the clattering of the chair too close than usual, turning his head and finding the brunette sat next to him makes him slightly uncomfortable.
"Hey," he offers a welcoming smile "I'm Colby" he introduces himself not sure if he remembers his name from introducing himself the beginning of his days here "hi" he murmurs quietly, voice soft and sweet like honey. The brunette smiles "what's your name?" Of course he remembers it, he's one of the few people he's remembered the name of, however, that doesn't stop him from asking such question wanting to give him the chance to speak again.
"Sam" he answers timidly, eyes shifting away from the other as he hears pointed whispers, finding a few sets of eyes on them, but he doesn't judge them, Colbys more known than he is in a sense of being better known about his personality despite being here for a few weeks.
Much to Colbys disappointment, the blonde doesn't utter anymore words once class starts, and he wouldn't mind much if he hadn't set his mind to wanting to know him, however he doesn't push, afraid to upset the other. To be fair, he doesn't know how the other is at all and he's not sure if him being quiet is his choice because honestly, Colby doesn't think he'd be opposed to avoiding everyone in the school either.

Once talking to the boy the brunette can't help but notice how the blonde appears everywhere he goes. He can't help but wonder if he was in eye shot every day and was just being blindsighted to his surroundings but he can't help but swear he never was.
He bobs up and down within the hoard of students, hidden away as if he's some sort of item waiting to be found in an eye spy book, to be pointed out and approached and talked to.
The boisterous hallway is loud and active in many conversations, acting like animals as they take the few minutes to play around with their friends, shoving them gently or hitting them in a playful manner, laughter bursting out thunderously from every which way. Now that he's been spoken to he sticks out like a sore thumb, standing in a place that's not so plain sighted as he hides in the shadows.
Sam can't help but notice it as well, obviously the brunette does as well because their eyes lock for a few seconds as they pass by each other with no emotion or known interest in each other as they walk by like any other day, hurriedly getting to their classes. Even if their classes line up and are scheduled to be in the same class. They're just mere feet away from each other, Colby being right behind him is well known to the blonde as he hears the laugh that's not so loud as the others due to his hand coming up and covering it slightly as if he's trying not to laugh, though Sam's sure it's just became a habit, a habit that happens when he laughs too hard where his dimples are fighting to make an appearance before pushed away when no longer laughing.
Sam wonders if he does that because he's insecure, though he's sure he's not, he knows what it's like to be insecure about something and if the brunette is having doubts about his smile he swears he's seeing it wrong. He'd die to have a smile that lights up the room, the small craters on his cheeks that accompany his smile lines almost makes him want to return the smile, return the same kind that flaunts off the perfectly straight white teeth but he can't do that, his smile is nowhere near as amazing as his.
When he enters his class the chaos doesn't go away, only dying down a bit due to the significant change in student population. When he sits down he repeats the same routine as any other class, pulling out his needed things and setting them neatly on the table and sit and wait for class to start, listening to near by conversations and observing others, being sure he's not staring too long before they think he's a creep with a staring problem. Other days, if he's extra bored he'll pull out his phone until the bell rings, though, it's not a everyday occurrence as his phone is dryer than ever, he'd be surprised if he had one notification that didn't correlate with a new upload on YouTube or a text from his mother, even then his inbox stays quiet.
"You talked to him?" Jake splutters out in disbelief "well- yeah. Is that a problem?" Colby asks softly, brows furrowed in question, though he understands his shock, hearing the word go around by nosey individuals about the new boy talking to the quote on quote "weirdo" despite having no recollection of what was said.
"What did he say? Did he actually talk?" Colby shakes his head gently in disagreement "not really. Just said hi before class started" the blonde tries to divert his ears from their conversation but he can't help but hear what they say as they're sat right behind him.
"Pfft, I told you he wouldn't say shit. He's boring" the other rolls his eyes, he could say he agrees just from the first impressions but he'd rather not, he knows better than to admit to something like that aloud without solid proof of it "just admit it. He's not interesting.. anything but fun to be around."
Sam frowns not daring to hear him agree to his words, dropping his head as he dares to feel the dip of his heart. He couldn't help but trust that maybe, just maybe the boy wasn't like everyone else, but he knew deep down that he wouldn't see him as a friend let alone as someone he'd talked to but he still can't help but feel the hurt in his chest no matter how many times he's heard people talk bad about him.
