The next days pass achingly slow and when the weekend rounds Sam couldn't be anymore happier to finally being able to escape the claustrophobic building filled with brave souls that seem to be able to do anything if dared to.

Most importantly, he's happy to finally get away from the brunette and his weak attempts of interacting with him. It was always the same question of asking how his day was, or, similarly, how he was. He couldn't help but appreciate the question, though he knew better than to answer truthfully and spill his worries onto the stranger so he answers with a simple shrug and a quiet word of "fine" though that quickly changed to a "good" when the remark striked concern in the other, asking what went wrong to be qualified as anything below good. However his response was always followed with silence, he couldn't care less but he also can't help but feel tense around the other as he stayed seated, he's just happy he only dares step foot in his proximity in one of their shared classes.

However, when Monday rolls around and the new week is starting up to relive the same days over again with the sea of unwanted people, he's sure Colby will give up, finally back away and leave him be.

So, when the dreaded class comes around Sam doesn't expect the brunette to already be here, sat in his sudden usual seat. When he approaches, the brunette smiles at him "hey," he greets and Sam takes note in the extra energy he holds, he wonders what happened to spike his joyous mood but he doesn't dare ask.

"How're you?" He asks the repeated question and Sam sighs, gently setting his bag down "good" his voice strains as he debates whether or not to return the question, however by the time he thinks he should he feels it's too late now, sat in silence for a few moments already.

"Did you do anything fun this weekend?"

He tries. Eyes holding a hopeful glint as he wishes for something more than a single word, it comes to a shock to others but Colby can't help but feel gravitated towards the other, the mysterious ways of the blonde make him crave more from him. His question is answered with a silent shrug, despite not being asked he answers his own question, he refuses to let this week be the same, he's going to make the blonde open up to him whether it takes months or not, he's determined.

"I went to my cousins place, I haven't seen them in years" Sam nods slowly at the admission cringing at the silence that follows "I had fun, even though I didn't do much.. they're my favorite cousins, or at least one of them. He's almost like another brother to me" Sam offers a small hum, he puts two and two together and figures that's why he's so happy. He finally reunited with a distant family member that he presumably missed.

"C'mon.. can you talk back?" Colby huffs out, jabbing his arm gently, brows pinched in frustration "it's hard to have a conversation that's only one sided" his pleads are shut down by the bell ringing, Sam giving him a sympathetic look before looking away, in all honesty he'd love to hold a conversation with him but he just doesn't necessarily know how to keep one up with someone he barely met- with anyone at that.

The cafeteria is never somewhere Sam wants to be, it's atmosphere echos and makes the boisterous commotion even louder and unwelcoming. So, he does everything in his favor to avoid it, that's why he doesn't dare get near it when it's lunch time, walking out the doors and finding home in a spot against the flower tree, accompanied by a few distant students sat on the benches.

Trays clattering and joyful laughs and shouts fill Colbys ears as he walks through the large room, navy blue tray gripped in his hand as he makes the trek to his table, slotting into his seat that just so happened to be empty when arriving, being granted with a welcoming spot to sit the moment he joined, not needing to worry about finding a different group of friends to sit with.

His mind isn't interested in his friends as his eyes scour the premises closely. He finds every table packed or half filled, only a few tables holding little as three students and only is one table empty for anyone to sit if they please.

"Yo, what're you looking for?" Jake asks, fingers snapping infront of his face making him jerk back gently, head shaking as he shakes away his thoughts "nothing" he murmurs, eyes locking with the others.

"Yeah? Don't tell me your trying to find Sam" he sighs pointedly the words earning a snort from besides him, eyes falling to the culprit "you're still hooked on the guy? Get over it, he doesn't want to be your friend dude" Colby can't help but roll his eyes, why does it matter to them anyways? He never understood the point on them trying to stop him, it doesn't bother them in the slightest or at least it shouldn't.

"Hey, stop it" a soft voice lets out, nudging her boyfriend in displeasure "I think it's sweet your trying to befriend him. He's very nice, I'm sure you'll love him" she smiles sweetly at the brunette "c'mon Devyn, you can't be serious? You haven't talked to him in a week, surely you don't even believe yourself when you say that."

"Yes I do! There's nothing wrong with him, if he wants to be quiet then let him be, it's not affecting anyone" she huffs out defensively "yeah? Then why don't you ever eat lunch with him?" Corey inquires earning a scowl "because I'd rather sit here. Now stop talking bad about him when you know nothing about him!"

"Yeah," Colby butts in "why does it matter if I try talking to him? If you guys don't want him as a friend doesn't mean I don't, he genuinely seems kind" his words earn a slow sigh from the friend infront of him "dude, we don't care if you do, honestly good for you if you do. We're just telling you to not waste your time, we've tried before and got no where, we just believe he truly couldn't care less if he has friends" the admission makes Devyn scoff in disapproval "that's because you gave up on him, you need to be patient with him- Colby," she strains her neck to look at him over her boyfriend.

"He's just shy. He's honestly a joy to be around when you get to know him, yes, I'm not all that close with him but I am still his friend, I'm open to be with him as long as he does too. I think he's just a lot of work, I hate to spread his personal feelings so I won't, but, I will tell you that he does enjoy being alone. He's truly just a shy guy and is just afraid of what people think of him, he already hates that everyone talks bad about him for not even talking but he's learned to ignore it. If you truly want to be his friend just keep doing what your doing and don't give up, I promise he'll open up sooner or later."

"Or," Jake pipes up, french fry in hand "you can save yourself the time and work and be satisfied with us" he suggests taking a bite of the fry before speaking again before anyone got the chance "but if you don't, I don't care. Kid deserves a friend to be there for him more than Devyn is" he shrugs popping the rest of the fry in his mouth before grabbing more.

The words make Colby smile, he's confident he can get him to be his friend, and even if he doesn't he always has these ones to lean on, even if he does befriend him he's sure he can bring him along with hangouts- if comfortable of course.

"How about this," Devyn speaks up again "we can go to him during lunch one day together, I'll show you where he eats and you can join him whenever you please. But the first time I'll be with you so he's more comfortable with you being there too, okay?" The offer makes Colby grin.

"Yeah, for sure. Sounds great."
