The soft winds whistle against his ears, blowing a nice cool breeze against his warm skin, body cladded in a large hoodie that drools over his hands, fabric hugging his legs as he draws them to his chest, pulling the sweatpant covered legs to himself. Chin rested against the part his breathing is steady, eyes watching his surroundings. He feels at peace watching the rare squirrel running around in the schools field, the birds adding a calming atmosphere around him as they sing a sweet tune over the few groups of friends mere feet away from him.
The soft vibrations on the floor next to him doesn't startle him, he watched him walk out the building and it was only a matter of seconds before he was next to him. He's not in the best of moods today and he's sure the other knows that, especially when getting a noiseless response to his questions earlier, finally offering a shrug in response when being asked if he's okay for a second time.
Colby lets out a small breath, taking a seat next to the other, back pressed against the tree as well, he doesn't speak though, not yet at least. He takes in the calm afternoon, watching as small blossoms fall from the tree above, covering the grass around them, the scent of the small flowers faint but potent when trying to catch it's pretty floral scent.
"You said you were going to see a movie? Has that happened yet? What movie is it?" Colby decides to speak, he remembers how joyful the other sounded about it, decides talking about it might make him feel a little better. He watches as he shakes his head, he assumes its because he hadn't seen it yet.
"Your mom didn't change her mind, did she?" He supposes that could be a reason he's upset if that's the case, however he doesn't think that would be it, but he secretly hopes it is because it's an easy fix in his mind. He'll invite him to watch it, pay for the tickets himself.
Instead, he gets a shake of his head again denying his question "that's good" Colby murmurs, he decides not to ask another question. Honestly, he doesn't know if he's welcomed anymore, he can't help the thought in the back of his mind of the other hating him, he did overhear his conversation with Jake and he could totally understand why he would be upset with him, despite the bad things being said not coming from him.
"Tomorrow" Sam strains his voice to speak up "I'm going to see it then" he murmurs, lip twitching in a distinct smile at the thought "that's exciting. I hope you have a great time" Sam hums, tugging his legs closer to his chest "thank you" he whispers.
"Is Devyn still allowed to come with?" Sam shakes his head "too much money" he murmurs quietly and Colby hums "I'm sure Devyn would pay for herself" he offers watching as the other shrugs "you could ask her, I'm sure she wouldn't mind. You sounded like you really wanted her to come with, I'm almost positive she'd love to go as well."
The thought of Colby remembering his words makes him bite his lip, he hadn't thought he listened to him and he can't help but feel a little bit of joy someone truly cares, yes, he's sure Devyn does as well but half the time he doesn't even think she's listening. Most times she's talking about other friends and trying to invite him with, or mainly- Corey but it makes sense to Sam and he doesn't dare complain, it's the best he can get and it'd be rude to say anything to hurt her feelings, besides, who is he to ruin the only friendship he has? Even if he doesn't get to share personal things like he'd like to, having someone that seems to listen and put effort into speaking with him makes him feel a bit excited. He can't help but feel trapped in his own mind sometimes, wishing to share stories and random things that happen through his day even if it's unimportant and as little as something he found funny.
"She's busy" granted, he doesn't know that for a fact, but he'd hate to have her waste her money on a movie she doesn't have interest in. The brunette nods understanding, despite the other not looking at him to see he did infact hear his words "well I'm sure you'll still have a good time. And if something comes up and you can't see it, I'll be happy to take you instead."
