An annoying melody breaks out into tune throughout the quiet room. Icy blues flutter open in displeasure, reaching a hand out to swat at the alarm clock, he recalls hearing it go off a bit ago too, he figures he slept through it.
When slapping it he grunts as it doesn't cut off, lifting his head to gaze at the clock it's large numbers stare back at him with it's bright red colors reading 11:45AM.
He gapes, kicking his blanket off his body, he's lucky his mother hadn't came knocking his door down yet for missing school. As he stands he hears that same tune, he realizes it's infact not his alarm but an incoming call.
Peering down at his phone he sees Colby calling him, reaching down he gently taps the screen, swiping his finger to answer it "finally!" Sam hears his voice through the speaker once putting it on speaker phone.
"Sorry" Sam murmurs, voice full of sleep as he makes way to the bathroom "oh- well, good morning sleeping beauty. I guess that answers why you've been ignoring me" he snorts softly.
The faucet squeaks on, drooling out it's water as Sam holds his toothbrush under it "you down to come over for an extra two days?" His voice holds excitement and the offer makes Sams brows scrunch in confusion, brush slowing down it's movements in his mouth.
"It's totally cool if not. But I figured since schools been called off both today and tomorrow I thought it'd be cool if you came today rather than Friday."
Sam gapes, shoulders relaxing at the weight that had been lifted off from the panic of missing school. Eyes blown wide at the thought of going to Colbys house for four days "soo? I completely understand if not. But I'd love for you to come."
Silence follows after as Sam thinks of his offer, heart rising as he thinks about hanging out with Colby for such a long period of time, no breaks, no worries. Just him and Colby, for hours straight.
The first thing to break the silence is the faucet Sam turns on, rinsing his toothbrush finally "have you asked yet?" Colbys the first to verbally break the silence, he figures if he's only just asked he may not have brought it up to his family yet.
"No- I mean- yeah- I have!" Sam blurts, heart rattling against his ribcage in suspense "yeah? So you can come? How about early? You think they'll be okay with that?" Sam let's out a hum "yeah" no. Not at all.
"Great. So your coming?"
"Mhm" he strains to let out, mind occupied with how he's going to pull this off.
"Awesome, I'll send you my address. But I won't be home for about an hour, come at 1:30, alright?"
"Oh.. okay" he murmurs and Colby is saying his final goodbyes before Sam hangs up. Heat rising to his cheeks, he's not too sure why he blushes but he does, he claims it on being embarrassed about the fact he's never had a sleepover, or of nerves about accomplishing his mission of getting out.
Sam stands at his closet, eyes gazing at the messy area, mounds of clothes covering the carpeted floor and clothes half off hangers, sock drawer overfilling with socks as well as articles of clothing that shouldn't be there.
He shuffles through the items, tugging out the hidden duffle he plans to use for his clothes, he's not too sure what he's meant to bring along but he knows the basics; clothes.
Finding his outfits took an embarrassing amount of time, he can't help but think what he chooses is something he'll be judged for, mismatching his chosen pants with different tops before finding something that'll be decent to wear.
When it comes to pajamas he's extra shy at the thought, he's meant to sleep too? Obviously he is, he's just worried he may do something embarrassing while asleep, he's not too sure what that would be but he knows something might happen. Picking the clothes is horrid, his pajamas are mostly dirty and he's about to decide to bring the ones he's wearing at the moment before realizing there's a toothpaste stain.
Finally, he finds a decent one and packs it neatly with the rest of his clothes, double checking what he chose and realizing he may have brought an extra set or two but he doesn't care, he'd rather have too much than too little.
Pulling open his sock drawer he picks out four of his best pairs- plucking an extra or two just in case something happens, he can't fathom being barefoot around someone else, so if stepping in a wet puddle may happen he's not going the rest of the day with no socks. Spotting a pair of boxers he deems it good to bring a pair as well, he is staying a while and he's sure he'd like to take a shower- if he's brave enough to ask for one that is.
Mind going to hygiene, he's quick to rush to his bathroom, claiming his toothbrush and deodorant, deciding to take a cologne as well.
Finally packed up Sam grins, relieved he's gotten it done. Hoisting the bag up to the bed he grabs his phone to check the time, heart thumping anxiously as he sees he has just under 40 minutes left. Being on his phone reminds him to grab the charger and it's not too long to realize he's yet to change still, panic setting as he rushes back to his closet, rummaging through it for a nice outfit.
Sam sits on his bed, eyes on the alarm clock anxiously, watching the time tick by slowly, numbers rising as time passes.
His room is quiet as he can't be bothered to do something to pass the time, mind too anxious to do anything. He picks at his fingers, hands trembling as 1:30 comes by achingly slow.
Body jolting as his phone pings in his hands he looks down finding Colbys message of his address taking it as him being home now- an okay for him to leave. He looks at the time just as the eight turns to a nine and it's enough to tell him he can for sure leave now.
Clutching onto his duffle he pockets his phone and approaches his door, pushing the desk out of the way just enough to exit before he slips through.
Creaks fill the quiet house as he steps down the stairs, the silence of the house almost haunting as Sam makes his way through. He peaks his head to the living room and he finds his mother asleep on the couch, bottles of alcohol around and it now makes sense why she wasn't yelling his ear off about school.
He debates whether or not to let her know where he's going and he ultimately decides to send a text later, wanting to successfully leave the house before she wakes up and catches him in the act.
