Have you ever felt addicted? have you tried asking yourself if ayos pa ba ito o nakakasira na ? yung gusto mo paulit ulit gawin, kainin, amoyin, ang isang bagay o minsan naman tao.

Habang nakatanaw sa dalawang itim na paro-paro na nag hahabol habolan, I smelled something that as if I was taken to another universe, the coffee scent allured me straight into the line that you wanted to smell it the whole day, the urge to drink coffee hanggang sumuko ang katawan mo, hahanap hanapin mo, at paulit ulit mong kakailanganganin sa buhay mo. I'm not talking about the coffee but the addiction about something.

I was in denial for how many years about this certain condition, I always thought that it's normal to have an urge on something you like doing but, after years of understanding the symptoms, I came up with the idea that I might be addicted to it and it's not pretty normal. Why? I wanted to stop it but I can't. My body and mind wanted to do a thing again and again and even though I don't like to do it anymore, I can't control myself and ended up doing it. Addiction's common symptoms are having intense urges that block other thoughts, spending excessive amounts of money on the drug (even if you know you can't afford it) continuing to use the substance even if it causes problems in your life, taking risks to obtain the drug you normally wouldn't, the inability to stop using it. And I've been feeling it for how many years now.

Did I win over it? no, I lose many times. I tried so much that I cried just to stop it, I thought I can, I thought I can help myself to overcome it but I was wrong. I grabbed the bible on my table and looked at it. It may be a book for you but this is not just a book it is everything to me. Whenever this addiction attack me I always grabbed my bible and started to read it.

Hebrews 4:16-16 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." It tells us like humans, Jesus Christ also experienced temptations but did not fall into sin. This means He can sympathize with our disappointments and weaknesses. He even paid the price for our sins. Although you were once lost due to addiction, this verse reassures you He will offer mercy and compassion.

Jeremiah 17:14"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."

Alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and other types of addiction are indeed heavy loads you need to share with someone. This Bible verse reminds you Jesus Christ is there for you and you can find peace in Him. This also reminds the loved ones of recovering drug addicts they can gain strength from God, especially when they feel weak physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

We don't have to fight addiction because we can't win over it but, through God's words with our willingness to stop it? I believe we can.

(Author's note: 7 reads! hehe tomorrow is another day, follow me and read some more! whatever you are fighting right now within yourself, read your bible and pray. pray, pray. God bless! )
