I chuckled when Drick told me that I sucked earlier. I also believed that since I was not confident kanina while I was presenting. I know my topic, but I can’t focus enough with our class. No wonder I couldn’t do my best earlier, and that’s fine, bawi na lang.

“Kung iniisip mo pa rin ang plano mo, Harly, I’m telling you, message mo na bago pa madamay ang lahat ng klase mo hanggang last class,” natatawa pang sabi ni Drick, which Faye agreed. They are my blockmates, and we’re waiting for our next class.

“What if he’s busy?” I pouted. “Kusa naman siyang naga-approach if he has time, paano kung busy, that’s why he’s not contacting me?”

“What if, what if,” Faye mimicked me. “Harly, girl, your what ifs won’t answer you right now. Bakit ba hindi ka tinuruan ni Michelle mag-first move nang alam mo ang dapat gawin?” Drick chuckled, so I pouted. I introduced Mich to them, and nakakasama rin namin siya if we have the same vacant. Hindi rin nagco-compliment masyado ang schedule namin, which is why we barely meet unless we plan to.

“Kung ayaw mo pa ring ayain, edi hintayin mong i-approach ka. Hintayin mong mag-message sa’yo o kaya batiin ka bukas, unless hindi niya alam na birthday mo.” I pouted more. They shrugged and both busied themselves with their drinks and cellphones.

Pareho silang may boyfriend and girlfriend. Drick looks feminine, but his girlfriend is so pretty. Hindi rin selosa, and she’s fine that Drick was surrounded by girls. Si Faye naman, ldr sila ng boyfriend, she introduced him to me by phone call. And sometimes, kapag kasama pa namin si Mich, whose relationship with Jim is still strong, pare-pareho nila akong pinag-iinitan for being single and nagkakasundo pa sila na itulak ako kay Sam, without him knowing.

We were talking about my plan to ask Sam for tomorrow. Gusto maghanda ni Mommy for my birthday celebration since this is my first time to celebrate it here in Baguio. I can’t ask her na i-invite si Sam because she will tease me about it or be confused since I’m the one who told her na huwag i-bother si Sam kasi baka pagod sa academy.

Sam and I seldom talk. We haven’t seen each other for a while either, which is why I’m having a hard time deciding if I should invite him or how I could relay it to him. Sanay din ako na Sam will approach me first, and that’s the sign na free siya and hindi busy. I don’t want to bother him or be a burden to him. We’re just friends, and we couldn’t ask for more. I don’t want to be clingy when, in fact, I really am.

“Are you going somewhere?” I asked them after class. Faye and Drick looked at me confusedly before answering.

“Ako, yes, sinasama ako ni Mama sa birthday ng kumare niya, and I already said yes to her,” Faye answered while Drick shook his head. I messaged his girlfriend to respect her decision. Hindi ko na tinanong si Drick, I asked straightly to his girlfriend if okay lang samahan niya ako.

I really don’t know if may maaabutan pa kami sa academy, but based sa pag-uwi ni Sam before na sinasabi niya sa akin, I calculated his time na umuuwi siya. However, naabutan kami ng traffic, so I was not sure right now.

“Bakit kasi pupuntahan pa? Puwede namang text mo na lang,” Drick commented.
