[TW: thug beatdowns and mention of child abuse]
Seungmin yawned and stretched, feeling around for his phone to check the time.
He squinted at the bright screen,
7:34.
7:34!?
He bolted upright in bed, his head pounding with the sudden movement,
My shift ended an hour ago! Did Hyunjin come back as me? Shit did Jeongin see him?!
That would be a fun one to explain. 'Oh, I see you've met my identical twin I never told you about I.N.' Yah, no.
Seungmin nearly through himself out of bed and staggered towards the living room. Jeongin looked up at him in surprise from where he was on the couch scrolling on his phone,
"Oh, you're awake! I made soup but you were asleep so I just left it on the counter."
Seungmin searched the room frantically for Hyunjin—or worse, a clone of himself. There was no one except him and I.N. He frowned, glancing around again and rubbing his head a bit.
So, where is he then?
Now that Seungmin thought about it, there wasn't really any reason why Hyunjin would come back too his place after his job.
Why did I expect him to?
"Seungmin?"
Jeongin was looking at him. Seungmin blinked, focusing on his friends confused face, then the counter, where a bowl of soup sat uncovered.
His brain was slow to start working,
"Wait, you left a bowl of soup on the counter the whole time I was sleeping Jeongin?!"
"Hey! I.N remember!"
Seungmin grumbled,
"I.N. You left a bowl of soup out for five hours."
Jeongin looked thoughtful,
"No, I left a bowl of soup out for four and a half hours."
Seungmin dropped into a chair and rolled his eyes as I.N set down his phone. His throat was kind of dry, but he felt better than he had earlier. He stared at the bowl of congealed soup, it looked abnormally chunky. He pushed it away with a finger.
"I'm not hungry, but thanks," he said, smiling at I.N. Jeongin nodded,
"You can eat it later."
Seungmin inwardly winced,
I'm definitely not eating that.
But, it was the thought that counted, and he was grateful to Jeongin for being there for him. Just, not grateful enough to risk food poisoning.
He looked at the clock and suppressed another yawn,
"It's getting late, don't you need to get home?" He asked a tired looking Jeongin.
"Well... as long as you okay then..." He seemed hesitant. Seungmin gave him a reassuring smile and nodded,
"I'm feeling a lot better, thank you for taking care of me Innie. You should go home and relax now."
"Okay! I'll leave now, get better soon," Jeongin said, jumping up from the couch and stepping into his shoes by the door. Seungmin waved as he left the apartment, catching a glimpse of the darkening sky.
The door clicked shut behind Jeongin, leaving Seungmin alone with a twisting feeling in his stomach.
He's probably out partying... or maybe at a friend's?
