"Maya...Maya!", Jamar said shaking me.
I woke up out of my trance.
"Yes?"
"What's the next move?", he asked.
I looked at the map.
"Maybe we could try Hanford Street?", I said.
"Sure."
We drove south to Hanford Street.
"By the way, I didn't know you could drive", I said.
He laughed.
"It's not my car. It's Malik's. He let me borrow it for tonight", he replied.
I pinched his cheeks.
"You're so cute."
He grabbed my hand.
"You know why I'm doing this don't you?", he asked.
"Because you love me?"
"That and because I can't stand people doing my dirty work for me", he replied.
"Ahhh. Right."
"Yeah and besides, they couldn't have gotten too far. Everyone knows a criminal commits crimes in an orderly fashion, meaning if they vandalized your dad's car, someone else's car has been trashed not too far from his", he replied.
"Wow."
"Yeah, it's kinda stupid, but also convenient. The more crimes you commit the more police officers will be attached to those crimes meaning you would have a little time to regroup every now and then."
"Hmm, and to think they would choose our house is insane. I mean no one else in our neighborhood has had this problem", I said.
"True, but think about it. Nine times out of ten, a criminal has a motive for what they do, meaning someone has been wanting to vandalize your dad's car for a while now, but never got the chance to at the time", he replied.
I looked at him.
"So you think someone has been plotting against us?", I asked.
"Yeah."
At that moment I thought about the conversation I had with my mom a couple days ago. Naomi. It was clear that she was wanting to get revenge on me. Maybe she had someone vandalize my dad's car.
"Listen, ummm I had a talk with my mom and I told her about Naomi."
Jamar looked at me.
"How'd that go?"
"Well let's just say I'm on a mission", I replied.
"A mission?"
"Yeah, I'm going to get rid of Naomi", I said.
"What do you mean get rid of?"
"I'm mean I'm going to stop her before she hurts my dad, even if that means going to the next level", I replied.
"Hmm. Maya Poole Vs. Naomi Simmons. Sounds like a good battle to me."
I hit his arm.
"Stop, I'm serious", I laughed.
"I know you are. That's why I said that."
"So you're ok with what I'm planning to do?", I asked.
"Maya, I don't care about Naomi. Whatever you want to do to her is none of my business", he replied.
"I love you", I said kissing his cheek.
"I love you too."
"I'm going to get my revenge, for everything. Everyone ounce of blood, sweat, and tears she's taken away from me."
"A little relief huh?"
"A lot of relief", I replied.
As we drove we saw a man running down the road.
"Who's that?", I asked
"I don't know but we're about to find out", Jamar replied pressing on the gas.
We chased the guy until he was cornered near the gate.
We got out the car.
"Hey!", Jamar yelled.
"Leave me alone! I just wanna go home!", the man shouted back.
Jamar grabbed him and slammed him to the ground.
"What are you doing out here?", he asked.
"I ain't did nothing man! I'm just trying to get home!", he said.
"Yeah, then why were you running?", I asked.
"Because of him!"
"Who?", Jamar asked.
"Tyson!"
Me and Jamar looked at each other.
"Who's Tyson?"
"The bear man!", he replied.
"Who?"
"The bear man! He wears a gray t-shirt and a bear mask!"
I froze.
"He wears a bear mask?", I asked.
"Yes and he threatened to kill me if I didn't give him the keys to my car!"
I touched Jamar's shoulder.
He looked at me.
"What is it?", he asked.
"I have to tell you something."
He let the guy go.
"What's up?"
"That's the man that my mom said she saw in her dreams", I replied.
"What?"
"She told me she saw a black male with a gray t-shirt and a bear mask."
Jamar looked at the man.
"So he's real?"
"Yes! And he's killing people left to right!", the guy shouted.
I looked at Jamar.
"And I bet he's helping Naomi", I said.
Jamar scoffed.
"He doesn't scare me."
"You should be scared!", the guy said.
We looked at him.
"Get out of here. And don't ever come back", Jamar said.
He ran away.
"This is bad", I said.
"Yeah and looks like Naomi is wreaking havoc of her own", Jamar replied.
"Yeah."
We looked around. It was completely quiet.
"Jamar, what if he was the one that vandalized my dad's car?"
"Then it looks like we have two people to get rid of", he replied.
I nodded and we got back in the car.
I looked at Jamar.
"The Beast and the Baddie."
"Versus the Fraud and the Tramp", Jamar replied.
