A Ray of Sunshine in the Night

As of now I'm hesitating to enter my father's office not that I'm scared or anything, It's just that I don't want him to remind me again that I should be more careful of my actions.

I'm just staring at the door knob, my body refuses to open it but I got startled when the door itself opened.

Marcus:  Will you just stand there? Come inside princess, you know we need to talk.

Hanni: I know dad...

I stepped inside his office and seated myself at the couch. He quickly sit in front of me.

Marcus: This is a serious matter princess... Trying to sneak out?? You know how dangerous it is. You almost got yourself killed.

Hanni: I got it dad.. but what I don't get is why they're after me? Who are they?

I saw how my father took a deep breath before looking straight into my eyes.

Marcus: Being an ambassador has never been a safe profession.

He walked to the window and took a deep breath again.

Marcus: There are people out there who wants to break me. And I told you this a thousand times that-

I didn't let him finish because I already know what he's going to say.

Hanni: My life is equivalent as yours...

He faced me then smiled sadly.

Marcus: I want you to be safe always Hanni. You're all I have. They already broke me once.. I don't wan to lose you.

I saw the sadness in my father's eyes. I know how badly he misses mom and I do too but dad took the most blow. He felt guilty he couldn't do anything to save her. It was after their meeting with the President 5 years ago, they were driving back home when they were attacked by God knows who those people are. They manage to control the situation since they had escorts with them, but mom wasn't fortunate. With all the loud guns shooting dad didn't notice mom was already hit and when he tried to save her it was too late. I was so devastated that day when I found out, it broke my father and I's heart that day. How could I ever forget. March 15, 2014

Marcus: If anything happens to you, I could never forgive myself. So please Hanni, don't do it again.

Hanni: I won't dad... I'm sorry...

Marcus: Good and if you do, then I have no choice but to deploy someone to look after you

Hanni: Wait, you mean?

Marcus: Not that princess.. Hahaha...Just one bodyguard.. It'll give me a peace of mind knowing someone is looking after you and always by your side. Literally, by your side. So, please..

That's not fair! My own father using his puppy eyes on me. I should be the one doing that, not him. Arrghh! Wait! Which reminds me of something that I wanted to ask my father.

Hanni: Dad! ( I surprisingly said)

Marcus: Why princess?

Hanni: That night when..you know...someone saved me.. was it one of your men?

I saw how his forehead creased and looked like in a deep thought.

I was silently pleading in my head that he would say that ghost is one of his men.

Marcus: I-'m not actually sure princess.. I mean you know that my agents are protecting you from a distance.. he might be.. but I never received a report of my agents regarding saving you..just the report of agent fox that when they arrived, the men who tried to take you were already killed. And based on Agent fox observation, the one who killed those men after you has high skills.
