When Zhanghao returned to the dorms, it was really late and he didn't expect to find anyone awake. He was wrong though, because he heard someone call his name as soon as closed the door behind him.
"Hao hyung," He thought it would be Hanbin or maybe Yujin, but it was Gyuvin instead.
"Gyuvin. Why aren't you sleeping?" Zhanghao asked, feeling guilty for the sad look on Gyuvin's face.
"We— we all want to know why you want to go back to china. Of course, we get it that it's your country, but Matthew and Ricky are probably not going back. We won't judge, we're just curious"
Then, Zhanghao had noticed that all the other members besides Hanbin had been hiding behind the kitchen door.
Zhanghao let out a sigh, sitting on the couch. "Come sit, I'll tell you"
When everyone was seated, Zhanghao crossed his arms and got ready to start talking.
"My dad left me and my mom when I was 15 years old. My mother never admitted it out loud, but it was obvious how hurt she was, and she still is. I can see it. Since then, we've been alone. Right now, she has my grandma and my aunt, but grandma can barely recognize her anymore and my aunt is sick. I can't leave her alone. My mom suggested I go to China and come back here once my aunt is well again. If it was for me, I would stay here guys. You are my family, too. Just thinking about these 5 months we have left hurts me so much" Zhanghao explained, looking at every single one of his members in the eyes.
They were his second home.
"We love you hyung, no matter what you choose!" Gunwook stated firmly, wrapping his arms around Zhanghao, teary eyed.
Hanbin, who had been eavesdropping, leaned against the wall of the hallway with his shoulder. Why hadn't Zhanghao just told him what was going on? Why did they have to fight?
Hanbin didn't know, but if Zhanghao preferred breaking up instead of telling him the truth, then Hanbin had no more to tell him.
———
Hanbin had avoided Zhanghao for days now, and the older knew it was completely his own fault, but still, he wanted to have peaceful last months as ZB1.
So he was determined to make things right.
"Hanbin" It was 5pm, and the three oldest members just finished shooting for a variety show, wherein only them three would appear.
Jiwoong who exited the building first, gave Zhanghao thumbs up, aware of his plan to talk things out with Hanbin.
"Hanbin!" Zhanghao called again when he noticed Hanbin wasn't stopping, louder this time.
"What is it?" Hanbin turned around abruptly, nearly making Zhanghao bump straight into him.
"I want to talk" Zhanghao said, unable to read what was going on in Hanbin's mind at the moment.
"I don't-" Hanbin was about to say it wasn't a good idea, but then he looked at Zhanghao's sad face and his shiny beautiful eyes— ah fuck it.
"Fine, but when we're at the dorms." Hanbin agreed, mentally cursing himself for being so whipped.
"Thank you" Zhanghao sent him a small smile.
Later when they all got back at the dorms, the first thing Zhanghao did was drag Hanbin up to the rooftop.
Hanbin got startled, but didn't complain and let Zhanghao drag him.
Before Zhanghao could start speaking, Hanbin stopped him.
"I heard what you said to the others, that one time. There's no need to explain everything again" Hanbin confessed, looking everywhere besides into the olders eyes.
"Oh... okay. I just wanted— Hanbin. Look at me, please. If I have to tell you my sincere thoughts, I want you to look at me" Zhanghao spoke, pulling the sleeves of his hoodie over his hands.
Hanbin looked up, meeting Zhanghao's eyes.
"I was mad when we fought. I didn't mean that I want to break up after the contract is done, that's the last thing I want. It's just that we didn't talk about what would happen to us, and there's not much left. I... I was afraid you would call things off, to be honest."
"Hao, why the hell would I call things off? I love you. You're my person. I don't care what you do, you could practically scream in my face that you hate me and I'd still love you wholeheartedly. What do you want. Do you want to call things off, or keep dating?" Hanbin asked, stepping closer to Zhanghao.
"I have to go to China to help my mom, bin. I don't know how long it will take until my Aunt is well again. I don't even know what she has, mom refuses to tell me. I don't want you to wait for me for long if you have the opportunity to find someone else" Zhanghao replied truthfully, hoping Hanbin would understand his point.
"I don't want to find someone else, Zhanghao. I'll wait as long as it takes. But please, let's not breakup. We can make this work, please" Hanbin pleaded, reaching up to stroke Zhanghao's cheek softly.
"Okay" Zhanghao whispered, nodding and nuzzling his nose against Hanbin's.
Hanbin laughed, sincerely.
"Let's figure everything out later. We have to enjoy these last moments."
Zhanghao agreed, finally kissing Hanbin again.
"I love you" Hanbin said, moving a strand of hair away from Zhanghao's eyes.
"I love you more"
"Impossible"
"Very much possible! I'm older so i love you more"
"That makes no sense"
"Blah Blah Blah"
