Amity

Blurred, it was all blurred; the events leading to this moment, my current surroundings, and everything else that mattered. Questions came and went. Where was I? How did I get here? And then I close my eyes from the sight of the blurry image above me and I felt myself slip unconscious. Then I start to see that I'm in a field. There is a distant figure facing away from me standing next to a tree. My brows furrowed and I took a few steps forward.

As I grew closer the figure began to grow familiar to me. "Luz?" I questioned out loud and she turned toward me at my call. Seeing her I froze up until she smiled at me warmly and I grew soft under her gaze.

"Hey there Blight." She spoke up in almost a whisper. This shook me from my shock and I rushed forward jumping into her arms as she spun me around. I laughed before she set me back down and I placed her face in my hands. "Did you miss me?" She asked me and I looked between her eyes in search.

"What are you talking about?" I let the words slip passed my lips but they felt wrong. My brows furrowed as I brushed my thumb across her face in thought. Though, after a moment, images flashed in my mind. A soft whisper of distant voices cut through all other sounds my senses picked up on within the area surrounding me.

"They're getting closer! What do we do?" A random, unfamiliar voice echoed.

"We help her!" I heard another voice shout but this one sounded familiar to me somehow. One I recognized but not one I knew too well. Everything was dark. My eyelids were far too heavy and my head hurt, it was pounding, a splitting headache tearing at my mind. I couldn't think. I was conscious for only a moment again before I fell back into the comfort the darkness provided me. Slipping into thoughts, and dreams, that brought me peace and settled my nerves until they took me completely.

It was disorienting. I had been fading in and out of consciousness for a while now. I couldn't recall when I first came to or what had been unfolding around me. All I knew is I had a blinding headache and there were these distant shouts coming from voices in what felt like every direction around me. I felt heavy, weighed down by some unknown force, a feeling in my head and a tiredness in my body.

"Get her somewhere safe!" A voice ordered.

"They're surrounding us!" Another voice, a nervous and fearful one, answered.

The floor beneath me was rough and I felt myself being dragged. And then I felt my mind slipping again into a dream. No, it wasn't just a random dream. It was a dream linked to a memory. "So what did you have in mind? You never told me." Luz asked, her voice echoing across my mind making the distance between us feel nonexistent as I once again stood in front of her in a field.

"What?" I asked her taking another step forward, another step closer.

"That promise, the one you made me, in the rain?" She clarified whilst tilting her head slightly and raising a brow.

"Promise me that when this is over we'll take a break. Just settle down someplace and just stop for a bit."  I'd asked her as she stood there and her smile fell as she took those words in and everything they could've possibly meant. Every single way they could've been taken. Especially the way I wanted them to be taken. For Luz and I to live our lives together with my family at The Sanctuary with Hunter and even Gus. The dreams I had during the duration of time we'd been trapped at the facility back with that group while Luz was experimented on. I still felt my blood burn beneath my skin and my anger build within the deep pit of my stomach at the thought and it brought my focus back to her.

"It's uh..." I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly looking off to the side. "It's kind of embarrassing," I spoke feeling shy about it.

"Oh come on Amity. You can tell me. I mean, you can tell me anything can't you?" She asked with a smile that eased my nerves slightly.
