The next month Veralee was surprised that Rhaenyra was right. During one of Rhaenyra and Veralee's sessions, she told her eventually she will have a place here, and get along with the family it would just take lots of time. Rhaenyra and Veralee's bond had grown quite a bit, she visits her grace for a sessions twice a week in the queen's study. Rhaenyra isn't exactly a motherly figure to Veralee but she was definitely a female mentor figure that Veralee was warming up to the idea off.

Asides from Rhaenyra she had surprisingly found a way to connect with the rouge prince - well king now- they often read in the library together. She first bumped into him when she was trying to learn more about the Targaryen dynasty -Daemon being a huge Targaryen nerd- helped point Veralee to better books that would be of more use. Now any time she has a doubt of questions she always approached Daemon.

Best of all Veralee was building a slow and pure friendship with her husband. It was very weird between the two for the next few weeks but they managed to find a place where they get a long a lot better. They still weren't to close, but Veralee had realised that they would eventually get a long just like the way she did with Daemon and Rhaenyra. It would just take a lot more time but she was happy with this new relationship she formed with him.

Veralee's family left only a few mere days after the wedding. She was sad to see them leave but Catherine promised to write as much as she could. Her father was for once is his life proud of Veralee for the first time in a long time. Her younger sibling sobbed all the way onto the boat and it truly broke her heart to see them leave but she knew it had to be done. However the one good thing that came out of her family leaving is Melvin also leaving. She was still very sour about the wedding night and refused to talk to him or even say good bye. It was one of the most insensitive things he has ever done to her and with everything else she did not have time for that.

Veralee still was struggling tho. She was still not very close to the family. She occasionally spent time with Rheana. Rheana was one of the most welcoming person in the red keep. She was so polite to Veralee and she was grateful for it. Baela on the other hand had not gotten over it yet, which veralee could understand why. Every opportunity Baela got she made sure Veralee was alone and tried to always butt in when she and Rheana were together. Although life was not perfect at the red keep, Veralee had a lot of hope for it.

"I'll see you later yea" Jace waved Veralee off after breakfast and headed of the his high valyrian lessons. Veralee smiled and waved back before turning her heals the other way and making her ways to the praying chapel of the sevens. Even if Veralee never liked praying she would only come there for the sake of her mother. She would pray that her mother was safe and knew since her mother believed in the sevens greatly, her mother would also believe after death she was with them, which meant Veralee could indirectly talk to her. As stupid as it sounded, it was just another way Veralee made her self feel better, at the end of the day it helped her and that is all that matters.

As Veralee entered the chapel she was met with the dowager queen already their lighting up candles. When Alicent noticed the presence of someone else, she slowly turned to see. She was surprised to see Veralee, she never thought Veralee was the religious sort. She turned her head back and continued lighting up candled.

"I never thought you would be the type to pray, princess" she blankly said while she continues lighting up candles.

"Why would you think that, Dowager Queen." Veralee retorted before gesturing to the match box " May I help?"

To which Alicent nodded handing it to her " I think that because, you look sick after we say out prayers before a meal"

"I did not mean to insult you and your prayers if that is what you are insinuating" Veralee struck the match and began using it to light candles.
