Chapter 17

"So" Jace broke the silence, as he watched his wife brush through her hair. "You and Helaena?"

"What about us" Vera asked as her eyes looked at her husband, who was unpacking his items from dragon stone, through the mirror.

"You seem to be getting along" He said, as folded another one of his tunics which he had previously messily shoved into his trunk during their hasty departure.

"yea we do" Vera confirmed. They both fell back into silence as Vera continued to brush her through her curls. She began to reflect on the day she had and about her new bond with heleana.It made her quit happy to finally have a friend that wasn't one of her ladies. A faint smile formed onto her lips as she though about the moment she met Jaehaera and Jaehaerys. They were so adorable and sweet, she could just eat them up.

"What's so funny " Jace asked, intrigued by that look on her face.

"I was just thinking about Jaehaera and Jaehaerys, I met them properly for the first time today" Vera said as she began to place her brush down on her vanity. She picked up a small bottle which had rose drawn on it, and gently applied a small amount on her hands. " They were so cute, Jaehaera was so interested in my red hair so much she tried to eat it" 

"Is that so" Jace smirked at her, as he began to pick up his neatly folded clothes of the bed and store them away. 

"Mhm" Veralee hummed as she began to get into bed, "I love kids, I think they are lovely, I use to love watching over Alma-Lousie and Thomas-Dean when they were younger, they were much more sweeter than"

"I completely agree, kids are far more pleasant when they are younger, with time my brothers got more mischievous" Jace agreed as he crawled into bed beside his wife who was now tightly wrapping herself further into the blanket.

"I don't know about Aegon or Viserys, but I have seen Joffrey sneaking around in places he shouldn't be" Vera said as Jace scooted closer to her and wrapped his arms around her like an extra layer of warmth.

"That's nothing, he has began to develop a bit of a sharp tongue, something he must have picked up from Luke" Jace spoke. Vera's arms rested on his chest as her snuggles further into the crook of his neck.

"Well I haven't had the pleasure to hear that yet" Vera said as she closed her eyes ready to drift of to sleep.

"Vera, I'm sorry" Jace said, clearly not anywhere near ready to sleep.

"What do you mean?" Her eyes snapped open and her brows knitted together, as she pushed herself away slight to look up at him.

"I realised what you were talking about the other day on the beach, That you don't feel like you belong. I see it now, I don't know how it slipped me earlier. You have not even met my younger brothers, the most you have seen of them is when the wet nurse knock at my door at night with him crying because he want me to put him to bed" His fingers began to twist her red locks in between his fingers " I'm sorry for that"

"Jace, it's ok. It doesn't matter now, as long as we are moving forward it's ok" Vera said as she left a small peck on his cheek. 

"Sȳz bantis" (good night) Jace said to her as they curled back up ready to sleep.

"What does bantis mean again" She asked as they got comfortable

"Night" he whispered into her hair, he left a small peck on her forehead, they both finally let the sleep overtake them.

Vera missed dragon stone deeply. She felt almost sad when she woke up the next morning to get ready for the long day she knew she had. She had to talk to lords and was back to being constantly burden to give Jacaerys heirs. The only thing she liked was that she was finally making an ally, Helaena. She kept thinking about her much more funner and freeing moments in dragon stone like at the beach with Jacaerys, or how they could really do whatever they wanted. Here she felt like she was anchored down.
