Chapter 16

The next morning, waking up in eachother arms felt right, not embarrising or awkward. It felt perfect, they both knew that they ment more to eachother then they thought and that changed something in them. Now they felt like this burning burden of constantly wanting affection from one another was gone, they could happily do it whenever. It felt like they were truly safe with one another. 

"Morning"Vera's light voice whispered over Jace's chest causing him to shiver at the feeling of her warm breath tickling him.

"You're awake early" His deep voice grumbled "that's unusual"

"It was hard to get good sleep after last night" Vera said as she snuggled closer. Jace just hummed in agreement as he wrapped his arms around her tighter. "Jace I want this, I want us to happen so bad, but I want to take it slow, is that ok"

"Of course, I don't care how much of you I get as long as I have you" He lazily smiled at her, with heavy, sleepy eyes.

"You know I think we really need to work on us better it took an ambush on the castle and both of us nearly dying to realise we like eachother" Vera joked. Jace's lip twitched into a small smile for a moment before giving Vera a playful warning look "Too soon to joke about it huh" Jace rolled his eye and shook his head in disbelief.

"We are going to have to get up at some point" He said after a moment.

"I know, five more mintues" She bargained, she slightly lifted herself of his chest and scooted A little further away so she could see his face better.

"only five" He said turning so that he was now face to face with her." I have to write to my mother I haven't done that yet"

"I should probably tell my family aswell" vera replied " oh god just thinking about how busy today will be, with cleaning, and sending out apologies an-" 

"shhhh" Jace interupted putting his finger on her lips "right now it's just you and me in bed with our 5 minutes" he moved his hand to the side of her cheek as he pushed one of her firey locks behind her ear. His face tensed up as he saw a small faint little dried scratch.His fingers lightly began to caress it, in fear that the slightest of contact would cause her severe pain "when did this happen"

Vera's hand shot up to where Jace's was to feel it for herself, to see if it was actually real. "Must have happened last night" she shrugged.

Jace hummed in agreement as he anyalsed it for a moment."Doesn't seem like anything bad enough to scar" he concluded out loud as he carefully leaned forward and left a small peck on it vera leaned towards him and kissed him, she was still not able to get over the new intoxicating foreign feeling of his lips. There was a loud thud at the door that caused both of them to break away.

"Your higness, ser Morrass has renturned" A guard announced from outside. Jace let out a heavy sigh as he kissed Vera on the head as a wordless take care and got up to find his robe and exit the room, leaving vera to pounder for a minute, before the wooden door creaked open and closed.

"Dearie how you holdin up" Maggie asked as she approached Veralee.

"not so good" Vera truthfully answered.

"Well lets get you freshened up love" She said as she helped Vera of the bed "Sometimes looking good helps you feel good"

Veralee and Maggie spent a little more time getting ready then their usual. All she wanted at this moment was familarity and then only 2 people who could give her that was Jace and Maggie. Jace was clearly not an option so maggie was all she really had. It really did help Vera mentally prepare for this day as Maggie helped calm her nerves.
