wings

you feel like you're drowning and you cant breathe. you feel suffocated and you're desperately trying to find the bottom so you can push yourself out. but there is no bottom. you're in an endless pit and you're fading into oblivion. you struggle so hard to get a grip onto yourself and grasp onto that last inch of sanity you have but you cant. you're too focused onto the fact that you have no control. your instinct to not inhale the water is so strong that it erases every swimming tip you've ever known. all your flying skills are useless when it comes to swimming because this time your wings are wet and they act more of an anchor. they weigh you down and hold you back from being alive.

but maybe if you knew that if you let go of your wings, you'd float towards the surface. and maybe this time you wouldn't just be a survivor. this time you'd be a legend.
