PERCY WALKED WITH Agent Hill, both of their minds preoccupied by the death of their director mere hours ago. Though it seemed like both decided to put it on the back burners of their minds, choosing to focus on much pressing matters.
He let out an undetected sigh before making up his mind.
"Listen, Hill," He stopped a few feet from the
door of the room where Steve and Nat were, "You know how I have dreams, the more weird ones? I think I saw our mystery shooter. ""You sure?"
"I mean I don't know how many long haired metal arm-ed, cold blooded, russian bullet using assassins there are but I don't think the pool is too big."
"Tell me if you see anything else right away, and lets keep this from those two for now, alright?" She cautioned, her voice going abnormally low.
Percy didn't argue, he was thinking the same thing himself. They resumed on their way and as he entered the room, his eyes immediately darted to the almost fully covered, Fury.
As his brain processed that image for a while he look to Nat whose back was towards him, but he didn't need his new founded power of reading emotion to know what she was feeling.
Steve's eyes moved slowly away from Fury and Natasha, almost like it was painful and settled on Hill.
"I need to take him." Right, that's why she was here. With his mind wrapped up in revelations of his dreams, it had completely slipped his mind that Hill had come to take Fury's body away and he had decided to come with her to Steve and Nat.
He was not going to pretend as though he knew the late Director better than the people in the room with him at this moment but that didn't mean he was completely stable.
But then again, had he ever been?
As Hill's words left her mouth, Steve's thought seemed to have shut down and even though Natasha's back was to Percy, he could feel her forcing herself to hold her tears back and Maria was no better.
All the composure that she seemed to faking out in the hallway had come crashed down against the walls of sorrow and grieve that had encompassed her entire mind.
Steve walked forward, and spoke so softly that if there was even a single sound he would not have been heard, "Natasha."
She stood so still, it was as if Medusa herself had reformed and turned her to stone and Percy worried that she might be paralysed from the shock that was playing in her brain.
But she moved and pressed a hand on Fury's forehead before walking out in full speed. Steve followed closely behind her.
Percy turned to Hill and gave her nod. No words passed between them but she understood that even though SHIELD was comprised he was someone she could trust. And then he too moved just in time to hear Nat question Steve.
