CHAPTER 8

"Jacob has gone over the line too many times Edward." I heard my Mom say from the living room.

"I agree, but forbidding her to see him is not going to help." Dad sighed.

"Then what do you propose we do? I don't want her around them Edward. I love your family, but this is the last straw. They hurt her!"

"Not intentionally, but I do think they could have asked first."

"How could they!?" Mom exclaimed again, exasperated.

"Jacob wasn't in on it the first time though. The second time, yes."

"Just because he had nothing to do with the first, doesn't mean he isn't accountable for the second." Mom shot back.

"I think she should be able to see him." Dad said softly after awhile.

"Why!?"

"Imagine not being able to see or talk to me. How would that make you feel?"

Mom didn't answer.

They were silent for a long time before Dad said, "They want to apologize. They're practically screaming it at me."

"I don't care." Mom mumbled.

"We should at least-" Dad broke off. "Jacob's on his way."

I raced into the living room, ecstatic at the sound of his name, but my parents weren't there.

"You're not welcome here anymore." I heard Mom growl.

I peered out the window and saw my Jacob standing in front of my parents with his arms folded across his bare chest.

"You can't keep us apart. It's not fair."

"Life isn't fair Jacob." Mom shot back.

"How can you do this to me Bella? After all I've done for you! Not just when you were a vampire, but when you're human too! Should I remind you of when Edward left you and I had to pick up the pieces?"

"Watch yourself wolf." Dad hissed darkly.

"What is with you two? You'd know I'd never hurt Renesmee! She's safe with me!"

Mom glared at him. "Do you seriously take me as someone completely stupid?"

"Right now, yes. You are being stupid."

A fierce growl pierced the air and Dad held Mom back.

My heart lurched. I wanted to go stand with Jacob. I wanted to hold his hand and tell him everything would be alright, even though I didn't really know myself.

"I want to see her."

"You won't be able to see anything if you don't you leave before I count to 10." Mom warned gravely.

"Edward, please." Jacob pleaded, making me gasp. He hated Dad, in yet he was begging with him for me. "You can see it in my thoughts."

"I'm sorry Jacob." He shook his head. "Our decision is final."

I didn't hear Jacob's reaction. I locked myself in my room and started to cry.
