Chapter 13

Ace POV

"So what were you and the girls talking about during dinner?" I asked Marco while thatch followed behind us with Lila. Marco laughed

"Wouldn't you like to know!" Marco said.

"I would!" I said.Marco stopped walking and looked at me and then looked behind us.

"Melody was curious of our brunette friend." he said and I gave him a questionable look as if to say I'm not following. He sighed and chuckled abit. "Mel wanted to know about Lila."

"Why would she want to know that...... and why couldn't she ask Lila herself?? Why she ask you??" I said and actually looked at Marco who smirked at me and then looked at Lila and thatch who were starring at each other passionately. I looked back at Marco.

"Me and Lila?" I said.

"Actually the correct form is Lila and I..." I punched Marco on his shoulder. he just laughed and nodded.

"But we are just friends... And why would she care about that...." Marco smiled and suddenly everything clicked. we made it to the deck where a lot of the crew members were on watching the stars and drinking.

"Hey bay!" Marco called out to his girl who was sitting on a blanket with Mel watching the stars. I followed him to the girls and we both sat down.

"So you guys came up here to?" Marco asked.

"Yeah pops said family time was happening on deck." Bay said. they held hands and began to talk. I glanced at melody who was just watching the stars. I sat there quietly waiting and watching and then I stood up and caught her attention.

"Where are you going?" She asked softly. Her voice cause my heart to beat faster.

"I was gonna go for a walk." I said. "do you want to join me?" I asked. She nodded and placed out her hand I grabbed it and helped her up. I figured she would remove her hand but she didn't so instead we began to walk hand in hand.

We walked all the way to the stern of the ship (aka the back) no one was around. Melody let go of my hand and hopped onto the railing holding a rope and standing watching the stars again. I couldn't help but watch her. she turned around and looked at me.

"Well?" She said.

"Well what?" I replied.

"Are you going to join me commander?" She said and I smirked. I hoped up next to her and grabbed the rope above her head.

"Are you happy now Princess?" I asked while leaning in closer to her. She laughed.

"I'm not a princess not even close." she said.

"Well how would I know what you were in the past we don't really talk much..." I said and chuckled but got no response from Mel.

"We don't talk do we?" Is all she said.

I pointed to the stars. " Hey is it just me or do those stars over there look like a horse?" I heard her giggle and it made relieved.

"It's not just you that is the constellation Sagittarius The half horse half man constellation." she said and I just smiled at her.

"You know about the stars?" I asked and she nodded.

"Yep my mom taught me when I was a little girl before..." She stopped talking and I knew what she was thinking about. I pulled her in with my extra arm and she leaned into my chest with her back.

"You don't have to think about it alone. I'm here for you." I said. I felt her breathing speed up and then on my hand I felt wetness. I just held her tighter. she twisted around and faced me.

"All I've known since the day my mother died is betrayal revenge pain and murder. When my mother died it was like anything could hurt me especially things like kindness trust or even love. I was on my own since the day my mother died with no one who could even give me a second glance. My own father couldn't careless about me because I know that he wished she was alive instead of me....

"Melody calm down you don't have to tell me this now." I said trying to stop the girl who I always see so strong and level head now breaking down I front of my eyes.

"No your wrong I do have to tell you this!" She said as tons of tears filled her eyes.

"Why go through this pain to tell me?" I asked.

"Because you're....

"I am?"

"You're the person who has lifted the pain and burden I hold in my heart!. You replaced it with kindness trust smiles and laughs. I'm telling you this because of the realization that I love you" she said the words I haven't heard in so long. Three words that will forever melt my heart. I pulled her into a tight hug. That lasted for quite sometime. when I loosened my grip I wiped her eyes and kissed her lips gently.

"Melody thank you for opening up to me. As of today onwards you don't have to carry that burden anymore or the revenge you have because it's all in the past. Lets move forward together..... what I'm really trying to say is..."

Before I could finish my sentence there was a piercing scream through the night and it was a cry of a female on deck. Melody and I both rushed to the voice. Along with the rest of the crew who was on deck. we came to the front side of the ship and found on the floor a women with long brown hair drenched in blood carrying a big body on her lap that was surrounded by a pool of blood.

I walked slowly to the two on the floor and then tapped on the girl shoulder. She turned around revealing her face.

"Lila..." I said and there were gasps at her face. Her eye was bleeding on one side and on the other there was a splatter of blood. The medical team ran by me and Jenna the head nurse forcefully pulled Lila off of the big body on the floor. I got a look at the body. everything seemed fine leading up to the head. Thatch. His head was half dangling off his body from a fierce slash through the neck. I felt fury rise into my body and flames seeping from within me.

"Lila!" Before they could pull her away I yelled her name and they stopped she looked at the body one more time.

"Who Did this!?" I demanded loudly. She had tears in her brown eye.

"Black beard is what he wants to be called.." she sort of spat out his name in disgust. "but most of us know him as another name."

"What is his name!." I demanded coldly.

"Marshall D. Teach." she said and then gasps and anger filled the crowd. I turned toward the crowd ready to bolt after teach.

"One more thing ace.." Lila said and I stopped in my tracks. "he killed thatch for his devil fruit power... Black beard has the Yami Yami no Mi power. That's why he killed Thatch so be careful." Lila said pain in her facebut she tried to keep her self together then was escorted to the nurses room.

Only moments later did another noise go off. I jetted towards it.
