Going home.

1999

Sunday August 8th.

Ginny and I have been traveling for months now but we promissed to be home before Ginny's birthday as she is turning 18 years old. Since Iceland we've been to Australia, Germany, Scotland and Denmark. It all have been such an eye opener, we visited all these amazing and beautiful cities, but I missed England and it was time to go home, so Ginny and I wanted to spend the day together in Copenhagen Tivoli, we tried a lot of differnt roller coasters, and had so much fun. We went directly from Tivoli to the airport, catching our flight back to England.

Boarding the plane we found out that Amanda was going back to England as well and she had the seat next to us. We were thrilled to see her, she didnt notice us at first but when Ginny said: "I can't wait to be home again Harlow."

Before I got to answer Amanda turned to us surprised and said: "Harlow, Ginny, what are you two doing here?"

"Were on our way home." I answer.

"That's amazing I am too." Amanda said happily.

"Where's Maddie? And your mother?" Ginny asks.

"Oh Maddie and I have a long distance relationship, so she is still in Italy. And for my mother, she travelled back to Australia weeks ago." Amanda said slightly sad.

"You live in Australia?" I ask Amanda

"No my mother does, I live in London. Moved out years ago, but still try to visit once in a while you know." Amanda sighs.

"Yeah I get it, we live in London too, and we are on our way home just in time for Ginny's birthday."

Amanda: "When's your birthday Ginny?"

Ginny: "August eleventh."

Amanda: "Then happy early birthday, how old are you turning?"

Ginny: "Eightteen, thats why my mom wants me home, her last baby turning eightteen, we get it its a big deal."

"It is a big deal Ginny, my parents didnt even call or anything."

Ginny: "But did Hermione?"

"Yeah she did actually, she called late, but she called."

Ginny: "You know I don't understand phones, mugglestuff."

Amanda: "Muggle stuff? Whats a muggle?"

"It's nothing just a fun thing we say, right Harlow." Ginny says panicking.

"Yeah, thats right. "I chuckle nervously.

Amanda shrugs, and the captain makes the annoucement that we are taking off soon.

About thirty minutes later Amanda has fallen asleep, so I whisper to Ginny: "Muggle really, we are surrounded by muggle's."

"I know, I',m sorry it just slipped." Ginny whispers back.

"But I know you don't understand muggle stuff, and I dont expect you too." I say quietly.

Ginny: "I didnt grow up with it, not like you did, the only thing I know is from my father, but he was mostly wrong in his theories."

"I know, let's just get this flight over with, I just want to be home now."

Half an hour later Amanda is awake again and suddenly she asks: "I was wondering, how many siblings do you have Ginny? As you are the last one to turn eightteen."

A bit starteled by Amanda's question Ginny answers: "I have six older brothers, or well five."

Amanda: "Five brothers, wow, I only have an older sister and a younger brother and thats sometimes a living hell, as my brother is nine years younger than me. But you said six then five why?"

Ginny: "One of them died in the war."

"He was in the military, tragic he died."

Ginny looks weridly at me, but she doesnt say anything. 

Amanda: "I am so sorry to hear that, how long is it since? If I can ask."

Ginny: "A little over a year."

Amanda: "Thats so tragic. But do you have any siblings Harlow."

"Yeah I have an older sister."

Amanda: "How much older is she?" 

"Almost two years."

Amanda: "Interesting."

We talk some more about siblings and family situation. and not long after we are landing in Engeland. Just when we are about to get off the plane Amanda says: "I live in this apartment in London right and the people above me are a bit annoying, not only can I hear them have sex like every morning, but I swear they have birds or something."

"Can she be talking about Hermione and Ron?" I whisper to Ginny.

"No way, London is big." Ginny whispers back.

Amanda: "What are you two whispering about."

"Just wondering where in London you live?"

Amanda: "79 Windsor Road Apartment 24."

"No way." Ginny exclaims: "That's where we live at the moment."

Amanda: "You don't live in apartment 34, do you?"

"Yeah, we do, but I swear it is not us you have been hearing, it's my sister and her brother they are in a relationship."

As we walk Amanda asks: "Do you look anything like your sister Harlow?"

"Yeah, they look pretty identical, only Harlow is taller and have longer hair." Ginny explains.

Amanda: "But do you have birds? Or am I being insane?"

"We have three owl's actually, my sister has one, I have one and my sisters friend Harry has one."

Amanda: "Oh that cute redheaded boy?"

"No that's my brother." Ginny says.

Amanda: "So the even cuter black haired boy."

"Yes thats him, but he has a boyfriend."

"And you have a girlfriend." Ginny adds.

"Yeah about that." Amanda says: "Maddie broke up with me becuase she couldnt do long distance anymore."

"I'm so sorry to hear that, but Harry is unavailable."

"Yeah I know sorry."

Ginny and I get met by Ron, Harry and Hermione at the airport, Hermione hugs me and says: "Someone got a tan sis." And then she asks: "Who's your friend?"

"This is Amanda." I say: "We met her on the train and apparently she lives above us."

"it's good to meet you Amanda, I'm Hermione, Harlows sister."

It's weired to hear that sentense mostly its: "Hi, I'm Harlow, I'm Hermione little sister." but not today, now Hermione are introducing herself as my sister. 

Ron drives us home and at home we flop on the couch and watch movies all night.
