—CELENA WILSON WAS GOING TO BE MURDERED BY PERCY JACKSON. After watching Annabeth leave, Celena ran back to the ship. She nearly tripped over a rock but she just kept stumbling until she found her balance yet again. This was wrong. Celena knew it. She should've tried harder to stop Annabeth from leaving.
She saw Percy, Jason, and Piper sitting on a picnic mat next to the ship. Celena barely glanced at them, and hurried onto the deck. She ran into her room and grabbed her bracelet and put it on her wrist. When she came out onto the deck, they were waiting for her, even Coach Hedge. One look at all of them made the story tumble out of her lips.
Percy glared at her but this was unlike any glare Celena received from him. "So you just...let her go?" He took a step forward, his glare turning darker as they focused on Celena. She growled, feeling the air around them thicken.
"You don't think I tried to have her back?" Celena snarled, taking a step forward. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Piper, Coach, and Jason tense up. "Annie had to go." Celena stopped herself, inhaling deeply. When she looked at Percy again, his sea-green eyes were welled up.
"She'll be safe, right?" Percy asked meekly. Celena felt like her heart was ripped out of her chest. She nodded but she didn't know. This was Annabeth. Of course she was going to be safe. And she'll look damn great while doing it. Some part of her, in the back of her mind, however, disagreed.
"So Annabeth was kidnapped on a motor scooter," Piper summed up, "by Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn." She looked at Celena and Percy who have calmed down.
"Not kidnapped, exactly," Celena replied. "But I've got this bad feeling...." She took a deep breath, like she was trying hard not to freak out. "Anyway, she's — she's gone. Maybe I shouldn't have let her, but —
"You had to," Piper laid a hand on Celena's shoulder, calming her down almost instantly. "You knew she had to go alone. Besides, Annabeth is tough and smart. She'll be fine."
Celena's shoulders relaxed a little, making her think that maybe Piper used her charmspeak. Either way, she was grateful for her. That way she can focus on fighting the giants more efficiently. "Maybe you're right. Anyway, Gregory — I mean Tiberinus — said we had less time to rescue Nico than we thought. Hazel and the guys aren't back yet?"
Piper checked the time on the helm control."It's two in the afternoon. We said three o'clock for a rendezvous."
"At the latest," Jason frowned. At the moment, Celena couldn't even look at him. She was still frazzled from the whole Annabeth going thing.
