"Beau!" Yazmin came bouncing up to me as I moved through the rows of cucumbers, snipping them off the vine and throwing them over my shoulder, into the woven basket strapped on my back. A sun hat was worn to protect me from the beaming rays, but the day was still infuriatingly hot.
"Hi Yazmin." I rely blandly not matching her rambunctious energy. "What's going on? Why do you look like you just ran here?" I ask noticing her sweaty, tired appearance. Her face blushing from the heat of the day as she heaved in air into her lungs.
"I was in the dress shop, with MaryAnne, and this woman walks in." She breaths out, exhausted.
"Okay, first of all breathe. Catch your breath and then explain. I'm afraid you're going to pass out and I don't have the energy to carry your ass in the hot sun." I say and she slaps my arm, then fanning herself as she tried to catch her breath. After a long moment of heaving, she spoke.
"This woman came into the dress shop, and she asked for the prince." Yazmin finally breaths out.
"Okay? He has a friend." I shrug continuing to toss cucumbers over my shoulder.
"Ok, but she's hot." Yazmin says looking panicked.
"What do you want me to do? Send her mother a muffin basket?" I look at her confused. "That's genetics." I shrug again.
"But, it's a little weird that she would come to your pack, and ask for the prince and not you." She moves to my other side blocking me from the rest of the hanging cucumbers.
"What do you want me to do Yaz? Riot? Honestly, I cannot be bothered. Unless she's-"
"Look just please come to the dress shop. Okay?" Yazmin grabs my arm pulling me away from the vines.
"Yazmin I still have work to do!" I shout but she doesn't relent. A member of the green team coming over and grabbing the basket of my back.
"It's alright alpha, we got it." He gives me a smile as she takes the basket from me not giving me a chance to respond.
"Alright! Alright!" I shout yanking my arm from Yazmin's viper grip. "But I'm showering first. I have mulch all over me."
After a quick shower and a fresh change of clothes I'm out once again, following Yazmin into town. The people around us going about their daily tasks. Basking in the sunlight and meeting every face with a smile.
As long as they're happy.
We finally make it to the dress shop. The shop itself was nice. Painted a bright red on the outside, the clear windows displaying the clothes on featureless wooden mannequins. The owner stepping out the greet me with a huge smile.
"Alpha! My alpha!" He shouts, clapping his hands together as he opens his arms for an embrace. We hug and he shuffles me inside excitedly.
"How are you Jesper?" I ask. Jesper was eclectic but funny. Standing at the same heigh as me, dressed simply in slacks, and Oxford shirt and a cardigan. Open toed sandals on his feet. Toes painted a royal blue. He left his pack due to his family not being fond of their son being asexual or into fashion.
"I'm doing very well. Especially with the statuesque beauty sitting in the fitting room right now. You know she knows the prince?" He whispers excitedly. Jesper claims he doesn't gossip but it's in his DNA.
"Apparently." I sigh. "I was dragged away from work to meet this woman."
"Well I was quite keen to meet you too." Another voice perks up and the fitting room door slides open. Out steps a tall slender woman, tying closed the nude silk robe Jesper gave to all his clients during a fitting. "A female Alpha." The traces of an English accent heavy in her voice.
