Chapter 7- Dear FriendI've been working on my case for quite some time now, so me and Lauren never got to have a vacation. The restaurant has been a lot more anxious recently, they're working off their butts 2 x the amount, and have a short staff. I've got some idea who Kali is, but I'm going to need more of who she is since I can't figure out her location without that data. So far, I have the sketch needed. She is a tall woman with curly, long black hair, blue eyes, dark skin, with a purple T-shirt, jeans with cuts, brown leather boots, and yellow circular earrings.
I asked Sam more questions about her, surprisingly, he cooperated and told me everything there is to know about her. We couldn't figure out her location however, but the formula really could be anywhere, for all we know, she could've even sold it by now.
"Hey, Peter" said the sandy blonde haired woman, with a green skirt, a red top, a white and black scarf, and a nice purse with her name on it (I don't know why).
"Hey, Lauren. Sorry about the whole thing, you really didn't have to visit me, y'know" I replied with a cheesy grin on my face.
"Well, if I didn't visit, who'd feed you while you're working your butt off the whole day? you'd starve before you could even feed yourself" said Lauren with a smirk and an all knowing look on her face which made my eyes twitch annoyingly.
"Well then, please take a seat, I don't want you feeling tired on the way back home" I replied with manners in my voice which looked to annoy Lauren.
"Don't talk to me like I'm some tired, rich old woman that you're interviewing, you know I'm more than capable to go home without struggle" said Lauren with a pout on her face that made me snicker a little.
"What the heck is so funny? I'm not some comedy show that you can entertain yourself with!" exclaimed Lauren.
"I know, I know, I just love how funny you are" I said closing my eyes not wanting to see her funny reaction.
I then realized what I had just said, which made me blush a little. But, before I could say anything else, I was called over by the man in charge.
"Well, thanks a lot for visiting me and bringing over lunch, that really made my day, I need to go now, so, goodbye and have a good afternoon" I said before getting up from my chair and leaving Lauren, I first noticed her startled face, which made me smile a little before exiting out of the room.
I heard Peter saying that he loves how funny I am, which made me feel startled, since I never expected that. I decided on leaving the building and riding my bike back home, I was already finished with my work, but I then decided on going to the nearest cafe for coffee. I ordered an iced coffee since I don't like my coffee to be hot, I had my book with me to just sit down and relax in the cafe that I'm currently in, a lot of people were doing the same, it was such a nice atmosphere, just like the library, well, almost since there was still voices of people ordering their drinks/ food and chatting with others. I didn't mind though, people can do what they want, but I still felt the urge to shush them because of the habit of doing so in the library.
"Hello there, I assume your name is Lauren, am I right?" said a mysterious man in a black jacket, white shirt, swimming trunks that you'd normally wear in a vacation, gray eyes, bags underneath his eyes (poor guy looks like he hasn't slept for days), dark brown hair, and a piercing on his chin.
"Uhm, yes, yes I am. How'd you know, sir? I don't recall ever meeting you?" I asked nervous and surprised at the same time.
"Well, you see, me and my buddies have heard of you, you're the one dating that inspector guy, aren't you? Replied the mysterious man.
"Buddies? What buddies? And no, I am not romantically associated with the inspector" I replied a bit sheepishly, but also still skeptical of this guy.
"Hello there! my names, Hanna! the cranky men you see right behind me are, Luke and Misha!" exclaimed the teenage girl with braided light purple hair, hazel brown eyes, a white and black striped skirt, a purple crop top with a kitty on it, a red bow tie on her hair, white sneakers, black and white striped socks that almost reached to the top of her skirt, and mascara on her eyelashes.
"Okay, cool. But I'm gonna have to ask, what do you need from me? I did nothing wrong and you look like you want something to do with me, am I right? " I asked still worried.
"Don't worry, just meet us here at 12:00, we'll tell you during that time, alright?" said the man winking at me.
"Uhm. Sure." I replied feeling disgusted with that of which he just did.
"Aww, but why not now? It would be so much easier! Just think of it! so why not just now?" asked Hanna with over exaggeration.
"Just deal with it, Hanna. It won't take long you annoying squirrel" replied the mysterious man once again.
"Okay, fine. I'm really forward to meeting you, Ms. Lauren! and don't worry about paying for the coffee! these ding dongs will pay for you!" exclaimed the excited teenage girl.
I really didn't know how to feel about this, I mean, at least I can trust Hanna, right? and if anything suspicious goes on, I'll report to Peter right away and he'll deal with this, still, I'm not so surprised that they read the newspaper, they must also want to find the secret formula, but I won't let them if that's the case.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of mistakes in this tbh🥲
