Chapter 8- Foe? or ally?"The man said to meet at 12:00, but I have a feeling that something bad is gonna happen..." I said feeling anxious.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine, it's going to be at the cafe, right? And if anything, I'll be right by your side, no questions asked" replied the man with messy, long ginger hair, ocean blue eyes, circular gray glasses, a pair of golden black headphones, wavy curtain bangs, a tie dye shirt, long muscular legs that make him look like the type to participate in leg day, navy blue sweatpants, a handmade bracelet done by his grandmother, and green and black colored shoes.
I sigh with little hope, I just hope what he says is true. If I'll have to encounter a fight for all I know, then so be it.
"Well, whatever you say, Logan. Hope you're right about that, anyway, I gotta head out, do you want me to make you a cup of tea? Perhaps some coffee?" I ask with a cracky voice that has you know that I'm literally going to cry.
"Coffee, if you may. Sorry, but may I ask, why are you even going anyway? You could just ditch the invite, you hardly even know these people! You've only met them some hours ago! So what is this ridiculous nonsense? "Asks Logan with theatrical exaggeration like he's about to play dead because of some ketchup spilled on his brand new pants.
That question was enough to leave my mouth wide open like some animated television cartoon character.
"Well.. funny you ask, you see, I just don't want to be rude and keep them waiting, that's just not the right thing to do! And yes, I know, I only just met these people, so what? They could have some useful information to share" I reply with pity in my tone.
"I mean, at least there's a hyper teenage girl there that could keep me company, and I'm of course not considering her a comrade or anything, but at least she looks somewhat innocent enough, also she said that they can buy me free coffee and you know I just cannot refuse an offer like that, it'll only kill me to refuse!" I exclaimed hoping that he'd understand just for a bit.
"And what makes you think that the girl is 'somewhat' innocent? She could be a gangster along with those guys you mentioned! There's no way she could be innocent, it's all an act, I can guarantee it!" shouts Logan with a look of disapproval hinted on his face.
I know he just wants to protect me, but why is he doing so by being that overprotective? I really can rely on him at times like these, but now I need to think about what I'm going to say from now on, spitting out all the information would only result in overprotective best friend mode from him. Though, it's not that I don't mind, really. It's funny seeing him like this since he's hardly ever around me anymore. I still think he has feelings for me though. Ever since we broke up, we decided on just being best friends instead since we've lived to know each other for quite a long time now.
Anyway, I left the house on my bike and got to the cafe after what seemed to be forever. And there they were, sitting by the nearest window, waiting. As soon as I stepped inside, Hanna had already screeched out my name, I didn't mind to be honest, but I can't say the same for the other people in the cafe giving off side glares. But, whatever.
"Okay, so as promised, we got you coffee, but you never told us your favorite, so we just got you a regular iced coffee, is that good enough?" Says Hanna concerned.
"Of course! I always get this every time I come here, thank you so much! Anyway, you all promised to explain to me why you called me over here, so, tell me" I say with a sudden mood swing.
"Of course. But first, let me introduce myself since I never really told you my name before. My names, Pasha, and I'm sure by now that you know everyone else. There's Luke, Misha and Hanna, so now that's out of the way, I'll begin to explain why I called you over" replies Pasha with a gentle smile on his face.
I didn't really see any threat with them, so I decided on playing cool and calming myself before things started getting complicated.
"Alright, if you may, go ahead. I'm all eyes and ears" I say with my usual sentence.
"Alright then, the reason why I called you over here is to talk about the inspector guy that was mentioned in the newspaper, funny story, I actually know this man from back when we both went to high school. He was known to be a playboy around the school and was pretty popular due to his looks, his personality was pretty rotten however. Me and him never got along, so we'd pretty much get into fights almost all the time. And by any chance if you're with this man, just know this, he's a disgusting cheater, not once has he ever not ran away from all his relationships in the past. Though, don't get me wrong, he might've changed, I'm just only warning you so there's no need to get tense around him, I don't want to ruin anything between you two if that's the case" states the man calmly not trying to mess anything up.
"Don't worry, I'm not into him (which was a lie) I only see him as a good friend and ally, nothing more. But, what does this have to do with anything?" I reply intrigued with the relationship that this man might have with Peter.
"Sorry to interrupt, I'm Misha by the way, I just need to ask, how long have you two known each other for? You seem to be quite close with him, so, I'm just wondering" says Misha with a 'not so understanding' look on his face.
"Oh, I've known him for about 6 years, we're really good friends and I often help out with his work" I answer with a calm expression on my face.
I can really start to see myself get more comfortable with these guys, Hanna, was also really quiet for most of the time, until she screamed at Misha for asking questions like these ( I found that to be awfully painful to watch as she scolded him out loud)
We talked some more and I ended up leaving at 2:00. I wondered why Hanna didn't leave to go home, but I figured that I shouldn't ask something so personal.
I was finally about to head home, until I heard something I've been hoping to hear ever since I got here.
"Wait! We might have an idea of where the formula is" blurts out Luke as I was about to leave. The cafe went into shock, I was shocked, but also relieved that now I can help Peter find out where the formula is.
"You do? Tell me right away!" I exclaim like I've found a treasure chest.
"You idiot.. you weren't supposed to tell her where it's hidden, moron" says Pasha gritting his teeth.
I then hear him shouting at Luke in Russian, I could've swore I heard him calling him the b word, poor Luke, but at least I'm now going to have to stay and get them to tell me where it might be hidden.
This is the most I've wrote so far😘😨
