"Well it is was a pleasure to meet you my dear and I do hope we work with each other in the near future." a very elegantly dressed woman said to Destiny who smiled and nodded.
"Yes, the feeling is mutual Lady Vivienne."
"I've already stolen enough of your time my dear. Enjoy the rest of your night."
As she left, Destiny looked around. The other models were talking with fashionistas and journalists, as was Jean himself. The last of the audience had just left and the VIPs that weren't chatting away with a model were leaving.
No sign of him. Maybe I can get through the rest of the night without having to face him.
Destiny sighed in relief. She turned around and immediately jumped in shock.
"Destiny! Oh man am I so glad to see you!" Matthew exclaimed as he hugged her.
She awkwardly stood there as he had his arms wrapped around her, "Err it is uh... very pleasant to see you too Matthew."
"You look great considering you don't know much about our world. You've really done well for yourself."
"Thank you but could you let go of me Matthew..."
"Oh I'm sorry. I'm just so glad to see you. I've been looking for you a while now and was starting to believe I wasn't gonna be able to find you to be honest. Amar'e would have been really down in the dumps if I didn't." he said rubbing his head with a relieved smile.
Destiny looked a little surprised, "Amar'e... wanted to find me?"
"Yea. He's the one that knew you'd be in New York but he couldn't come because he had to head west to find Dominic and Eric. We're getting everyone that left the dojo to come back." he explained.
Destiny looked down to her side to avoid eye contact with Matthew. Her face was a saddened one.
"What's wrong? You don't look happy to be coming back."
"That's because I won't be." she answered.
Matthew was taken back a little. He didn't expect to hear that response from her.
"B-but why?"
"It's better for me to stay away from that life. Fightin, martial arts, the life of a warrior... my previous life... its all behind me now and if anymore of my people were to come after me, I'd be an easy targe there and I wouldn't want you guys to suffer too." she told him.
"But we don't care! The masters are prepared to take that risk otherwise we would have never came to find you." he argued.
Destiny shook her head, "I won't put you guys in danger again."
"Didn't you just hear me? I said-"
"Not from others but myself as well. I'm a walking time bomb while focused on that stuff. You saw that very clearly Matthew. I have an obligation to Mr. Françoís anyways. He helped take care of myself these past couple of months, I can't leave. I'm a model now, not a warrior." she said calmly to him. Anyone could tell it was hard for her to say though."Tell Amar'e I thank him for everything but... I can't bear to face him again after what happened."
Matthew opened his mouth to argue again but found no words to say.
"Aah Matthew, I see that you met Destiny, one of the spear head models of my new conquest. She is beautiful isn't she?" Jean approached with Luxi and Myra at his side.
"Matthew is it her?" Myra asked him.
Matthew only nodded his head but said no more as he had a very baffled look on his face.
