Julian's POV-
During the time of rehearsal, the group had all went to our assigned places in the auditorium to start the after school rehearsal day. With Laci going to check her large binder to check the paperwork from everyone and see what is accounted for, Lily going upstairs to the sound and lights booth to get to work on the music and sounds, and finally Ashton, Collin, and Adrian all heading into the prop room to work on the set needed for the stage. Which left me being an actor with my script in hand and going over my lines while remaining seated as such what the rest of the actors would do, though from time to time we would all get into a circle group to read through the script together and sometimes having to speak with accents that we add to our characters.
Case in point with my character, the King of Hearts whom I choose to give a British accent since for me it's one of the more common accents most people would try to do plus with the whole royalty thing going on. However besides the memorization of lines, a few of us would be called to the dressing rooms to go and get a check for our makeup and costume design as an example when I went for my stuff which involved one of my eyes having a heart painted on for obvious reasons along with my clothing being mostly red and black which kinda made me look like a czar of sorts with a black cape that I find very awesome to wear as the King of Hearts.
Beep!
Though a loud beep from a megaphone would be heard as well as another voice coming out afterwards. "Get to your places everyone, we're starting our dress rehearsal in a few minutes!" A older and mature female voice would speak as all of us knew who it was. That being our favorite Theatre teacher, Mrs Walburn, who was also the director for the play. Majority of the time she's a very fun and hilarious teacher to be around during and after class times but when it comes to a play production she knows when it's time to take things seriously. As of now with me and the actors getting into our costumes and going into the left and right wings of the stage near the curtains whilst there is also the Set team on the right wing while on the left is me and a few others along with Laci with a podium holding up the script and having a mic on her head to communicate with Lily in the sound and lights booth.
Eventually there was silence from everyone as the first scene began. During these dress rehearsals most of us are either quiet watching on or whispering to each other before the next scene would come on for a few of the others to get onstage for their parts. As for now me and some others stayed in the wings since our scene wasn't until later on, besides me being the King of Hearts there was also the Queen of Hearts and the Knave of Hearts. The actors I both knew from my freshman year and who I seen as my upperclassman and close friends as well, one of them was a boy named Kaleb and the other a girl named Gabby. I would mostly speak with Kaleb since Gabby was also one of the stage managers besides Laci, me and Kaleb would mostly talk about basic topics like school and what we'll do after graduation. Kaleb I would describe to be a much taller and better looking version of me, since we had both have a similar length of curly hair with the main difference being our height with me being the shorter one, besides that I considered him someone to look up and ask for some advice which I was always glad to listen to.
Eventually our scenes would come up where the three of us would proceed to enter on stage, and since it was a dress rehearsal the only person watching us was Walburn but it should still be treated as if we were actually performing in front of an audience and so we did. Gabby speaking her lines and then followed by my own as well as Kaleb's, usually it would seem simple to step into character when doing a performance and while that may be true for others there's more to it. Besides lines and costumes it's about how you portray your character and what you can add to it to create something unique on your own.
A few minutes later
Soon the dress rehearsal was over as both cast and crew would approach the front of the stage with some of us sitting down and others remaining standing up. Walburn would then step forward and come to give out our critique of what was good and what we should improve on, giving notes on some actors and set people then hearing my name I would lift my head up to pay attention.
