Even from the outside you could hear the boom of music and the laughter of everyone inside. Caleb fidgeted with his hair, a normal habit of his before he went to social gatherings, but he couldn't get it the way he wanted. Frustrated he let out a sigh and smiled as he walked into the room, it was his birthday, and everyone was here for him and that was a little bit embarrassing. Caleb wasn't the social butterfly of the town, more or less he was a wallflower and liked it that way, but somehow he had a variety of people who called him their friend. As he searched the room he found his best friend, the blond haired and blue eyed Alice Colt. As their eyes met they walked over to each other and hugged one another. With a couple of guys whistling the moment was over and the hug was released. Alice was the first to speak, "You're so lucky, you know that?" she said smiling.

"And why is that, my friend?" He said grinning while folding his arms.

"Because not only are you able to have magnificent party, your birthday is in June."

"I'm not too sure that makes me lucky, I mean what's so great about June?" Caleb said while pouring himself a glass of water.

"For one it's summer so you can enjoy the sun," she said while looking up, "then there's the fact that there's no school, so you can spend all the time you want relaxing and enjoying yourself. Who doesn't like that, what's the word I'm looking for, bliss?"

Before he can say anything, Caleb's Mother waved her hand from across the room, beckoning the two to come over, "Well," Caleb says as he starts walking "I guess that's our cue."

"Oh, please your mom is the coolest mother there is," turning to say hello to a few people as the come by she continues, "In fact, I pretty sure that everyone in our class wants to have her as their mom.

As Caleb came closer his mom reached out to give him a hug, "Oh Caleb," she said squeezing him harder, "I'm so glad to see you."

Pulling away he gasped for air," Mom, god are you trying to kill me."

"I'm sorry, I'm just a little bit stressed," adjusting her shirt she looks toward Alice, "Miss Colt, I haven't seen you in forever. You know Caleb is always talking about how you'll be over sometime soon." The way that she stared at the two of them made it seem as though she was implying more.

"Mom!" Caleb said, "You're embarrassing me." He began to blush and turned away.

Alice looks across the room, "Oh I think I see my dad over there. He told me to get him when I found him."

As Alice turned and walked across the room Caleb's mother started to adjust the floral arrangements in front of her, "You know I wouldn't mind if you two started dating each other."

"Mom," Caleb exclaimed flippantly, "she's just my friend, that's it."

"By who's perspective yours or hers?" She looked with compassion.

"Whatever," he said as he turned away walking into the crowd. He didn't want to be here and he just wanted to get out. Alice after a while joined him, "I thought that you were with your father?"

"Yeah not really," she said smiling, "So, where are we going?" Caleb opened the door and held it for her to grab, "thanks, but you still haven't answered my question."

"Because I'm not so certain where we should go." Looking off to the fading skyline a wisp of wind touched his ear and he thought, the Anemoi Crossroads is nearby. "I got it, we'll go to Anemoi." Alice nodded and just followed silently. The walk was silent, but calm as the sun light faded to black and the city's lights began to glow. If Caleb's mom was right it has been a while since Alice and him had the time to be together alone just the two of them, but he couldn't remember how long it was exactly. As they made it to the crossroads bridge the wind stopped and the chill was gone. The street was silent it was almost too quiet for such a busy city you would expect there to be something, but there was only nothing. Beside the single lit lamp there was a small stair case leading to the bridge above, "Want to go up?"
