When Cas opened his eyes he found himself inside a soft white bed. Slowly he observed his surroundings, wherever this was it felt comforting. He didn't feel like moving, but his stomach began to churn as the fresh smell of bacon filled the air.

The door didn't make a sound as he slowly suck his head out into the hall. "You know you could joins me already," a voice shouted from the far end of the hall. "By the way, I don't think we have anything but apricot and fig jam."

Cas walked into a the main section of the cottage as Joshua sat down in a chair. Instinctually, Cas raised his fingers defensively, "Michael!"

"Ah," He took a sip of his tea. "Kind of, but no." Joshua pointed toward his eyes, "My eyes are still clear blue and my skin isn't pulsing with black blood."

Cas looked at him for a minute. This shouldn't be possible, he felt Joshua die in front of him because of Cash. "Am I dead," he blurted out.

"For now yes." Joshua slid the extra plate to the chair in front of Cas. "But don't worry you're only here temporally." He smeared the jam thickly and took a heavy bite, "I couldn't believe that they were just going to let you sit in a boring waiting room until your body was strong enough to support your soul." He waved his hands around, "I mean Michael's cottage has three bedrooms."

Cas slowly sat down inside the chair, "How can I trust that this isn't some elaborate trap?"

"Hymn," Joshua shrugged his shoulders. "You can't," suddenly he was laughing. "But either way Michael still is using my body in the world and your breakfast is getting cold."

Cas took his toast and placed apricot jam on it, it was wonderful. "I still don't understand how this is possible."

"Well whenever an angel uses your body as a vessel than your soul just gets sent to their home, unless you're coinciding in the same body."

"Well actually only half." He pointed toward the hall, "his other half is in a comma here. But I mean I was still sent here so." He took a sip of tea.

"I feel like the more that is answered, the less I understand here."

"Yeah, it seems like it, but once you figure out the grand scheme then you'll be fine, but don't ask me for any help in the matter because I won't be telling you anything."

"Well this just seems to be the ongoing theme of the year." Cas saw how content Joshua was, it was unlike the time he met him. "So when Michael leaves your body what happens?"

Joshua sat his cup down, clearly not amused by this question. "I go back to living in a world that I never wanted to be a part of." He looked away, "I am at peace here Cas."

"But you had so much that you still could have done with your life."

"No, I didn't." Joshua slammed his hands on the table. "Some people have destiny and a whole bunch of other things that make them special. All I had there was a controlling grandfather." He was holding his arm tightly and Cas noticed that there were scars hidden just under its cuff. "I'm free here Cas."

Cas didn't know what to say. His blood was boiling, did the keeper of sparks beat his grandson? "I'm sorry."

"Don't be, when you threw me in that lake you gave me my best outcome." He stood up and began to walk his dish to the sink, "Besides you killed Cash, and avenged my death." A bell began to ring and Joshua smiled, "I have to go take care of Liam."

"Who?"

"That's the name of the baby that Gabriel is using as his vessel. The angels in this area have never seen children before so I volunteered to do it."
