School is over and now Dylan, Megan, Mom and I are just hanging around outside waiting for dad and step-douche to get home. We haven't been out here long before the car pulls up.
"Daddy!" Megan and Dylan run up to the car with mom and I following.
"Hey! Oh, perfect timing. Listen to this." Dad says pointing at the radio. His voice comes out the radio singing the tagline of the studio step-douche works for.
"Is that you?" I ask shocked.
"Yeah!" Dad said excited
"That's you? Why is that him?" Mom said shocked aswell.
"I took him to work, and 15 minutes later he's the new voice of The Panda." Brad says annoyed as he gets out of the car.
"Hey, you believe that? I record one take at 9:30 this morning, it's already run 11 times. Do I really get 182 bucksevery time they play that?" Dad asks getting out of the car aswell. We all start walking towards the house.
"Yes. Every time, yes." Brad answers him in the same tone. Why is he so pissed that dad did one thing for his company? Idiot.
"Ooh! Money." Megan says.
"You see why I love America even more than most people do?" Dad says to us. He looks at the street.
I speed ahead of everyone to the kitchen to get a drink. I hope that now dad has a job here, it'll mean that he can stay for good. If he does, I would definately move in with him so I don't have to see step-douche as often. Just as I was about to grab some soda, I hear dad shouting.
"Megan! Dylan! Soph!" He yells for us.
"Hang on! I'm getting a drink!" I shout back to him.
"Now please Sophie!" I hear him yell again. God. I just wanted some soda. Is that too much to ask? I walk to where Mom, Dad and Step-douche were all standing with Megan and Dylan.
"Guys, what would we call Brad if he treated someone differently just because of the color of their skin?" Dad asks us seriously.
"Brad's being racism?" Megan and Dylan both say sounding super shocked.
"No guys. He's racist." I tell them.
"Soph." Mom and Brad both scold.
"What? If he's being racist he should be called out for it." I say. Its the truth.
"Is Brad a Klan person?" Megan asks.
Mom and Brad both say "No." at the same time as I say "Yes." which earns me another scolding look.
"So I'm a racist if I don't fire someone?" Brad asks confused.
"Well, yeah, you are." Dad says.
"Yeah, you are." Both Megan and I say. Brad gives a defeated sigh and walks up the stairs to fire the builder.
------------------------------TIME SKIP------------------------------
It's the next day and my dad has once again proved how awesome he is. He basically made an entire party in the back yard. He finished the tree house. He built a skate ramp which I have not gotten off. He got a zipline. He got awesome speakers and a freaking sponsorship from redbull. It is so much fun!
All our friends and some other kids from the neigherhood were here having a great time. I'm standing at the top of the ramp with some friends and my skateboard. I see dad and Step-douche walking round the house.
"Hey baby! I said get a helmet on for the half-pipe." Dad yelled up.
"I'll be fine. I'm a pro at this shit." I yell back making him laugh. I see mom approach them and start to talk. I bet she is saying something like 'Why are all these kids in my backyard having a good time?' Such a party pooper.
I prep my board to go down the ramp. However, I failed to notice how my Step-Douche has started walking towards the ramp right as I start to go down. We both realise that we are about to collide and so I decide to jump off my board. My board still slides into him and he still falls on his ass. I Iand hard on my arm and I swear I hear something crack.
"Baby!"
"Soph!"
"Sophie!"
I hear Mom, Dad and my siblings yell. Step-Douche rolls over and see's me pretty much in the same position as he is. I sit up just as Mom and Dad get to me.
"Oh god. Are you ok baby?" Mom asks clearly worried.
"Does anything hurt?" Dad asks.
"Umm. My wrist hurts a little but I think I'm ok." I say to them. It's actually true. Only my wrist hurts and that's not even alot.
"I'm so sorry Soph. I should have checked you weren't coming down." Brad says shuffling closer.
"Yeah you should have." Dad yells at him.
"Hey. It was not his fault." Mom says with her arms wrapped around my shoulders.
"It wasn't mine either." I say to her.
"It was an accident. That's all." She says. "Now, lets get your arm checked out honey." She says. Mom helps me stand up and to the car while Dad keeps glaring at Step-Douche. Well, this is gonna make this whole visit so much better.
