The Night

I throw a rock in the lake and a ring forms on the calm water. This is my favourite place. It's always so peaceful here. Especially at night time. The moonlight reflects on the water lighting up the dark area just a little bit. I remember once coming here with my parents. It's my earliest memory of them togerhter. Happy. I don't have many good memories of them, so I really hold on tight to the few ones that exist. I have to. Even though it doesn't take long till I remember each and every horrible one.

It's really quiet.

I go to grab my headphones to listen to some music and I hear a car engine in the distance. I'm sitting near a house. That's how I got down to the lake. So I assume that the owner is back. I've come across him once before and he did not seem happy that I was there. I quickly get up putting my headphones around my neck and start walking towards the shed behind the house so he wouldn't see me.

I hear footsteps running towards the shed.

"Shit", I whisper under my breath and hide

I hear some rumbling in there. Like someone's struggling.

"Hello?", I call out

The rumbling stops. What is going on?

"Who's there?", I ask but nothing

I hear glass breaking and I flinch to the sound. As I approuch the door, I see that it's a crack open.

"Are you okay?", I say cringing to the cricking sound the door makes as I open it

I'm not crazy, I definitely heard something. I step further inside the shed. I don't see anything. It's empty.

"Great, I'm hearing things", I say to myself

A sound forms behind me and I freeze. Heavy breathing. Shit. I'm so being the dumb blonde in the horror movie right now, aren't I?

I slowly turn around to look who's there.

"Jesus, you sacred the shit out of me?", I whisper under my breath "Munson?", I say confused

What is he doing here? Jesus, he's trembling.

"What's wrong with you? You look like you've seen a gho-", I go to say

He pulls out a broken beer bottle from behind him.

"Woah", I say holding up my hands "Okay, wha- what is going on?", I ask him as calmly as I can

"Get out", he barely gets the words out in a trembling voice

He's scared. Really scared. Half an hour ago he was fine. What the fuck happened? On any other circumstances I would assume that he's messing with me. But now...I've never seen him like this before. The fear in his eyes. The stutter in his voice.

"What happened?", I ask calmly approuching him a little

He backs away

"Okay, okay", I say "Wait. Where's Chrissy?", I say and he squints his eyes

"Sh- she...", he hesitates still stuttering "That- it-"

"What?", I say and all of this starts to seem really familiar

"It- it....she's off", he says and falls down to the ground whimpering

What does he mean off? Shit, what happened?

He's a mess. A total, absolute mess. He seems like he has just seen something...crazy. Something's not right with this.

My mind flashes back to the traumatizing memories. The look on his face, the fear in his eyes. They seem...familiar.
