I stand outside school at the parking lot waiting for him to pass by the entrance to pick me up. I puff the cigarette in my hand and, with the corner of my eye, I see the van approaching. I put the cigarette out on the wall and throw it in the trash. He stops the van in front of me and rolls down the window.

"Hey, darling", he says with a big smile on his face

I tilt my head at him and smile narrowing my eyes. I go around the van and get in the passenger seat.

"Honestly, you can't just be on time one day?", I say and

"Sorry, I got caught up with a customer", he explains turning the engine back on "Plus, I want to see if you'll wait for me every time", he turns to me with a smirk bringing his face closer to mine

I chuckle and give him a little teasing kiss

"Oh don't you do this to me, Y/L/N", he says leaning back on his seat and I narrow my eyes at him

"Okay I'll wait, but you'll have to make it up to me every time", I say and go to fasten my seatbelt

"Y/N, you'll wait, right?", he asks and touches my shoulder but his hand feels cold

I quickly turn to face him and when I do he's not there. Everything goes darker around me.

"Eddie?", I call out getting out of the van in panic

Everything is like in the Upside Down. I see him on the ground hurt.

"EDDIE!", I cry out running at him desperately. Suddenly I trip and fall down.

I gasp shooting up from the bed. I can't see straight for a second. I place my hand on chest to slow down my panting. It was dream. Or more of a nightmar. Or both. I look around my room. I'm still in my room.

I hear a quiet knock on the door.

"Come in", I say with a deep breath

The door slowly opens and my Joyce eppears from behind it. It's been quite a while since spring break. About a month or so. As Joyce and the boys came back from Lenora, I offered for them to stay at my place. My dad sorta didn't want to be around. He didn't say it like that. He said 'I should stay somewhere else untill things are sorted out'. So he left the house. Pretty sure he went to his girlfriend's. I don't really care anymore. He can go to hell for all I care. It's honestly better this way.

"Morning Y/N", she says with a soft smile "Sorry to come in like that", she says as she come to sit on the bed

"No, it's- it's okay", I say rubbing my eyes. I probably look restless.

"Y/N, are you alright?", she asks with concern in her voice

"I...uh, yeah the stitches are good-"

"I don't mean that", she quickly cuts me off

I look at her and sigh deeply. I don't say anything.

"Look", she says settling on the bed "I don't know what happened exactly, but if you feel like you need to talk", she gives me a squeeze on my hand "I'm here if you do"

I suddenly feel my eyes welling up, but I hold back.

"I just...", I sigh "A lot of things happened", I look down at my hands as I feel the tears escaping my eyes "I uh...I"

"Okay, com' on", she says bringing me into a hug and I hug her back tightly "You don't have to explain if you can't. I'm still here", she says and I freely let the tears flow on my face

"It's just hard", my voice cracks

"I know", she says softly stroking my head. She slowly pulls back and looking at me she wipes the tears off my face.
