My phone kept on ringing while I'm having my mind like floating in the clouds. I knew I was having a hangover.
I answered the call, it was Selene. “Mhm,” I greeted.
“Sumagot ka rin sa wakas! Alam mo bang kanina pa kita tinatawagan, ha?” Now I'm not really sure if the one on the phone with me was Selene or my mother. Psh.
“What is it? Just tell me.” My voice sounded husky and deep. I honestly do not know what’s there she has to tell me because I barely remember anything from last night. It was all blurry.
“Ayos ka na ba? Hangover?” she sounded concerned.
“Hm, yeah. Sort of,” I answered.
“Malamang. Ipupusta ko pang hindi mo na rin natatandaan mga ginawa mo kagabi.” It was almost a whisper yet I heard it loud and clear.
What is it now that I did last night? Gosh, this is driving me nuts.
“Haha. So funny.” I was clearly sarcastic. “You got it right,” I sighed. “What did I do?”
“Ay teh, nakakatawa nga. Ikaw ba naman kasi naging center of attention sa ginawa mo, gaga,” she paused. “Sikat ka na!” She laughed hysterically and the last time I checked, the call was ended by her.
I was about to call her again when she forwarded me a video. It was a video of me at the party last night.
Just seeing the thumbnail drives me crazy. Is this really my doing? I pressed the play button.
I was in Javier's fucking lap. Too close our faces could be swapped. I was talking—or should I say, hitting on him until I kissed his lips. I kissed his goddamn lips. I was the one who kissed the lips that disgusts me the most.
This is insane. Hella insane I could almost throw up. Until I stood up and shouted, “My dare's done!” I thought it was over but the video kept playing and the next thing I saw was Ryan grabbing me onto him and kissing me.
The video ended. I remember everything now.
I texted Selene, “What a great thing to start my day. 🙂”. She just haha'd my message.
I looked up at the time and realized I'm almost late to class. Heck, right. My day's already been ruined because of that jerk.
It's my first day of school to Law School. I still can't believe I'm a step closer to my dream of becoming a licensed lawyer.
Introduction of ourselves was the first thing we did. Diverse aspiring law students filled the room: I can see students my age, there's almost half of them; and middle to late 20s students whom I think chose to work first before going to Law School. Nonetheless, we have the same goal here—to be lawyers.
Since I was confident enough to tell my accomplishments in life and courageous to assert my will on this path, I was chosen to be the class president of our class. I am grateful for this opportunity given to me by my fellow classmates and I can assure that I will do my very best to not disappoint them in any way.
“By the way, Ms. Monroe, the professor in charge announced that the president of this class, which is you, will have to come meet him in the office—” Our adviser did not finish her sentence as another teacher came.
The room went awkwardly silent. It was him. He also looked surprised to meet me here. For the nth time.
“Don't worry, I'll accompany her to the office,” he said then glanced at me again. Familiarity filled his face.
