Note (from ao3): Second bonus chapter is here! And it's about Emma!
Enjoy!
___________________________________________________________Emma doesn't remember her real parents. She only remembers living in an orphanage before being adopted when she was three year old.
She never knew what she had done wrong for her family to leave her alone once again. She went from family to family until she was five year old. She doesn't know why no one wanted her.
She never did anything wrong. So, why did those families left her all alone again?
Was it because she smiled too much? Was it because she wasn't like the other girls her age? Was it because she had too much energy? Or because she had difficulty to stay concentrate on one thing at the time? Was it because she would sometimes wake up screaming at night? Was it because of her nightmares?
Was it because she wanted to feel the parental warmth she's being seeking for years? Was it because she was asking too many questions? Was she talking too much? Was she too annoying?
Those where questions a five year old shouldn't be asking herself. One man understood that.
A grumpy scary looking man decided to adopt her. Compared to the other parents she had before, he was all alone, just like her. This man would answer the most honestly possible all of her questions she would ask out of curiosity. The complete opposite of her other families, the little girl felt like she could actually be herself around the man, that she didn't have to force herself to be someone else.
She later learned that his name was Yuugo and that he was currently studying to one day be able to open up his own bakery. Emma couldn't wait for him to open his bakery so she could help him sell his delicious pastry that she loved so much. She loved to bake some with him. They would always end up all dirty, but always end up laughing and happy.
The first gift she had ever received was a giraffe plushie. Yuugo had given it to her at her first birthday that they celebrated together. That had also been the first time she had tasted carrot cake and when she had fallen in love with it.
They were moving a lot. Never staying at the same apartment more than a month. Emma didn't really mind. As long as she was staying with her dad, she was happy. She wasn't the one who would complain about it.
It was a year and a half later, when she was six and a half year old, that Yuugo met an old friend of his. Her name was Dina.
Emma loved Dina. Dina was the reason why they settled in one place and that Yuugo finally decided to open his bakery. They had gotten married when the young girl was seven.
She had been so excited to wear her beautiful white dress and to see her new mother in her magnificent white dress. She had helped Dina choose her dress and the flowers she would have.
When they were taking some wedding photos, Yuugo had Emma in his arms when the little girl turned to look at Dina. The ginger-haired girl gave the older woman some gentle tape on the shoulder, gaining her attention.
« Mom, you're beautiful! »
Dina and Yuugo's eyes had started to fill up with tears as their smile didn't want to go away just yet. Emma's smile had grew ten time bigger when Dina had taken her in her arms to hug her.
