The Exception (Narry)

"Laura, please, this is very serious" I groaned, running my fingers through my hair. 

"I know, I know" she mumbled, rolling over onto her back, holding the magazine she had been reading above her "It's Harry's birthday and you must, i repeat, must make sure he has the best day ever" 

I rolled my eyes at the sarcasm in her voice, "exactly." 

"Why don't you just give him the one thing every boy wants" She smirked, sending a wink in my direction. 

"Oh gosh, Laura! I'm not fucking Harry..well at least not yet" I mumbled as I felt my cheeks heat up. 

He probably would like it though- no niall, stop. You're waiting for the perfect moment. Do not turn into Laura and become a hoe. 

I took a deep breath looking over to Laura who had an eyebrow raised, "you know you said that last bit aloud yeah?" 

"um" My cheeks felt as if they were on fire, "m'sorry" 

"it's fine" she shrugs, "I already know I am, well was, before I met Louis of course"

It was half true, Laura had slept around quite a bit before her and Louis came to be but she wasn't as bad as some girls. But you couldn't deny the reputation she had going. 

"Speaking of Louis" She piped up, looking at me seriously. "would you say its bad that I haven't met anyone from his family yet? I mean like, we have been dating for awhile now and don't you usually meet at least one of their parents by now. I don't know, maybe I'm just over exaggerating"

She sighed quietly, hiding her face in my pillow, growling lightly before looking back at me. 

"Please tell me I'm not" I sighed, watching her eyes sadden slightly. "So it is bad, this is just fucking great" 

"I didn't even say anything" I mumbled. 

"You didn't have too, your facial expression said everything" She sighs, "You can always tell what you're thinking Niall from your facial expressions" 

"oh" I mumbled, looking down at my notebook which was listed with ideas for Harry's birthday and so far all I had was 

-a new pair of pants, preferably not as tight. His legs need to learn to breath. 

But, pants weren't the perfect present I was after. 

"I think I've figured it out" Laura smirked at me, "I'll just surprise Louis at his house and then I'll have to meet his mum" 

"Okay" I replied automatically, even though I wasn't actually listening. 

"I'm gonna go now..I'll text Harry on the way and ask for the address!" She stood up quickly from the bed, a wide smile plastered on her face. "Thanks Nialler, you're a fab help" She leaned down to kiss my cheek quickly before running off downstairs in a hurry. 

I sighed, slumping back in my chair. Tapping the end of my pencil on my desk. 

Okay Niall, just really think about it. What is one thing Harry would use or have or love all the time. 

"I've got it!" I yelled, a wide smile on my face as I jumped up from my chair quickly. 

"got what sweetie?" My mum asked confused as she walked past my bedroom door with a hamper of washing tucked under her arm. 

"I've finally figured out the perfect birthday present for Harry" I grinned widely, quickly throwing a beanie over my messy hair and pulling a jumper over my head. 

"I'm sure Harry will love anything you give him" She smiled reassuringly. I didn't reply before I found myself rushing off out of the house. 

"How much for the bracelet in the window?" I asked the elder lady standing behind the glass counter. 

"120 dollars, an extra 50 if you want it engraved" She spoke politely, I took another glance at the bracelet in the window. It was perfect for Harry. 

"Okay, I'll have it engraved as well" I smiled as the lady handing me a piece of paper asking me to write what I wanted on the bracelet. "actually can I grab two?" 

"Of course" She smiled taking the two bracelets and the piece of paper with what I had decided to engrave on it. "Shouldn't be too long, feel free to come back soon" 

I nodded, looking at my phone before exiting the small jewelry store. Looking left and right the streets weren't too busy and a small cafe wasn't too far from where I was. I missed Harry. I hadn't seen him much lately but with school and his treatments life has been pretty hectic. He's also been really focused on writing songs, a talent no one, not even himself knew he had. 

"oops" I mumbled, my body colliding straight with someone else. 

"fucking hell" the boy mumbled, running a hand through his hair. 

"I'm so sorry-" I rushed, the boy's head snapping in my my direction. "Louis?" 

"Oh, hey Niall" He mumbled, smiling lightly. 

"Are you okay?" I asked, "you look kind of, um, upset?" 

"It was so embarrassing Niall. Laura just rocked up at my house unexpectedly and I wasn't wanting her to meet my mum so soon and well my mum said some pretty embarrassing things"

"oh" i mumbled. 

"It's not that I didn't want Laura to meet my mum, I was just kind of embarassed of my mum" He sighed, looking towards the ground. "You know what the first thing she said was?" 

I simply looked at him waiting for a response. 

She said exactly this, "oh my gosh you are gorgeous. Louis didn't tell me had a girlfriend. In all honesty I thought he was, you know, gay" He finished mimicking her. 

"Oh" I couldn't stop myself from giggling slightly. 

"It's not funny Niall! It was embarrassing! Now Laurz is going to think I come from the strangest of strange families!" He groaned, a small smile tugging at his lips though. 

"Look Lou, in all honesty, I know Laura. She would've thought it was funny and probably loves your mum for saying that because it shows how sweet and chilled she is. So stop stressing over everything and go find your girlfriend because I need to go pick up Harry's birthday present for tomorrow" I smiled, giving him a pat on the shoulder. 

"Please don't be going to pick up kinky shit Niall, you're better then that" He smirked, winking. 

I groaned, "and now I see why you and Laura are perfect together" 

"I couldn't agree more" He laughed before turning in the opposite direction.
