"Go fish" I smirked, causing Harry to throw his cards onto the bed in a huff.

"This game is rigged" he muttered.

I let out a slight chuckle, shaking my head at him.

"Harry, there is no possible way go fish could be 'rigged'. "

He huffed again, crossing his arms over his chest, a pout evident on his face.

"You're such a child Harry." I muttered, rolling my eyes.

"Am not." He poked his tongue out at me.

I rolled my eyes once again, chuckling quietly, "You just proved my point Harold"

"My names not Harold!" he groaned in annoyance, his breathing heavy from getting himself all worked up.

"okay okay. im sorry" I chuckled, holding my hands up in surrender.

"good." He smiled, uncrossing his arms and pulling me towards him for a hug.

I instantly wrapped my arms around his waist, nuzzling my face into the crook of his neck as I breathed in his calming scent.

When I had first seen Harry and became almost instantly infatuated by him. I often found myself imagining what his scent was, which I had always believed to be a mix of mint and subtle cologne but that wasn't the case. Harry smelt like coconuts. He claimed it was his favourite scent for shampoo. I couldn't disagree with him there because Harry did always manage to smell good. He always managed to look good aswell.

Me on the other hand, I was the laughing joke of the school for years. The memories still haunted me.

It was Freshmen year and the most vivid memory of my first day was being the dorky gay kid who nobody really wanted to ackowledge. We had all just finished our assembly where the principle welcomed us all to the school and blabbering on and on about how good this year was going to be for us but I didn't pay much attention, all that was on my mind was the thought of food and how hungry I currently was. My mind wandered off to the thought of what the cafeteria food may be today.

The sound of chatter and movement woke me from my daydream as I looked up to find everyone was getting up to leave the auditorium. I stood up, slinging my bag over my shoulder and following the group of kids on the way out. I looked around nervously taking in all the new faces before spotting a familiar one who was waving and smiling widely at me.

Liam

Liam had been my best friend for as long as I could remember and he was fully supportive when I came out to him about my sexuality. He also seemed to be fine with the fact that I had a little crush on him. But things started to change over the break, the main thing was that Liam had gotten himself a girlfriend. Sarah. She was gorgeous to say the least, long brunette hair which she always wore in braids and was always clad in leggings and and hoodie. She didn't like me. She didn't like the fact that Liam and I were best friends. She didn't like the fact that I had a crush on him. She didn't like the fact that I was gay.

"Niall! How are you buddy?" Liam greeted me with a hug, whilst Sarah stood next to us, rolling her eyes at the sight of me.

"Hey Li. I'm good, how are you?" I smiled warmly, ignoring the glare Sarah was giving me.

"I'm great thank you!" He smiled widely, lacing his fingers with Sarah's once again, a pang of jealousy and hurt hitting me.

"We should probably get going Lili, don't want to be late for our first class" Sarah giggled, smiling up at her boyfriend.

'Lili' I wanted to puke in my mouth.

"You're right, I'll see you at lunch Ni!" With one final wave they were on their way and guess what? They never showed up at lunch.

Sighing quietly, I walked with my head hung low trying to hold back the tears that were about to roll down my cheeks. I was more alone then I had ever felt in my entire life. He actually chose her over me. I sniffled, rubbing my nose on my sweater and wiping my eyes gently and right at that moment I was pulled into the boys bathroom.

"Well, well, well" A boy who I had never even seen before spoke.

"We've heard you're the new little gay boy" Another one spoke as the first one roughly pushed me up against the toilet door.

"And around here we don't really agree with your 'choice'" The first one growled, pushing my body against the toilet door once again causing me to wince out in pain.

"Ouch" I groaned, closing my eyes from the intense pain that had filled my body.

"We decided we'd bathe you in our own 'holy water'" The second boy spoke, a smirk evident on his lips as he grabbed me by the back of my neck and shoved me towards the toilet.

I whimpered quietly, looking at them with pleading eyes.

"Please don't."

They both looked at each other before throwing their heads back in laughter.

"Pathetic" The first one chuckled as I felt my face being pushed into the water.

It was the worst expirience in my life. I wanted to die right there and then.

"Hey!" I heard a voice call from behind us as I felt my face submerge from the water.

"What the fuck is your problem!" It was a girl.

The boys let go of me, allowing me to start coughing and resting against the toilet bowel.

"We're just messing!" The first boy muttered, trying to smile innocently at her.

"Yeah, just a welcome to the school tradition!" The second boy added on, a sly smirk upon his lips.

"You want a welcome to school?" She growled lowly at them, before bring up her fist to punch the first boy in the nose.

He cried out in pain, holding onto his nose as it began to bleed.

"What the fuck is your problem, you psycho bitch!" He groaned in pain.

She then proceeded to turn to the second boy raising her eyebrow at him but he only quickly hurried away. The first boy following quickly after him. I kept my gaze on my lap, I was completely and utterly embarrassed. I felt her kneel down in front of me, placing her fingers under my chin and lifting my head up.

"You okay?" She asked, smiling softly.

"Yeah" I muttered, running my fingers through my wet hair.

"I'm Laura" She grinned tilting her head to the side.

"Niall." I smiled shyly, taking her hand she had extended out and stood to my feet.

"C'mon Niall, lets go get you dried up" She smiled, wrapping her arm over my shoulder and leading me down the hall. If only I knew this girl would quickly become my best friend.

"You okay baby?" Harry's voice snapped me from my daydream, "You look kind of distraught?"

I smiled softly at him, running my fingers through my hair. A habit I had kept over the years.

"Yeah, just thinking bout the past" I felt his hand wrap around mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Sometimes Niall, you've just got to let go of the past and look forward to the future" He smiled softly, caressing the back of my hand with his thumb.

He was right, I spent so long living in the past, I had forgotten to look forward the future.
