At first, it's all dark. Then then bleak around me seems to tense. A wind begins to pick up. It's sharp and cold opposing to the warm darkness around me. I shift my position, feeling uncomfortable. As if the wind was trying to sweep me to another time Suddenly, a spot of white pierces the darkness. it grows and grows until I'm sept into a whirlwind of piercing brightness. The whole swirls around me the black melts into the white, creating ghastly images of destruction. they soon disappear into the blank white space surrounding me. Then, all at once, color appears. I drop to a hard ground but feel no pain. Dust swirls around me. Sun from no where bakes the ground around me. That's when I hear the first scream. A ear piercing streak shatters the silence I'm now so used to. I drop to my knees and cover my ears, searching for the source of the painful scream. I soon find it, but I wish I hadn't. A woman is walking toward me. She looks skeletal, almost zombified. "I'm a Crank!" she screams,"A BLOODY CRANK!!" I huddle down and cover my ears again. I can't seem to drown out the shrieks of insanity escaping the "Cranks" mouth. What the hell is a Crank anyway. The next words that come out of her mouth give me goosebumps all over. Simple repetition but frightening all together. "Kill me, kill me, kill me. KILL ME!!" That's when more start. "Cranks" all over.

More screams for me to murder. More faces torn to shreds. Some even sporting slits deep enough to show bone. The sight was enough to drive anyone insane. I try to run, but go no where. My feet are stuck firmly to the ground. I just want comfort. I want Lizzy. I want Newt. Oh what I'd do right now to feel his hands around me once again. I love him, dammit. I sink to my knees and clamp my hands over my face. I tear at my face. At my hair. At my clothes. All the screams, they drown out all. I scream at the top of my lungs, trying to drown out the terrible screams. I scream and scream. I begin to shake. I have no clue why until I jerk up out of the terrible dream. I sit directly upright when I realize what the shaking was. Newt. He must have been shaking me awake because now I'm bolt upright and our faces our barely inches apart. "You okay?" he asks, keeping his eyes dead on mine.

I shake my head and begin to cry. He pulls me into a hug and after like a minute he breaks away. I can still smell him afterward, I can still feel his warmth. He cups my head in his hands and wipes away my tears with two calloused hands. "Shhhh," he soothes,"it was just a dream."

Another voice makes me jump. Lizzy and Minho are standing in the door frame. "All right love birds, we need to know what she saw," Minho says. I blush at his remark and Newt smiles. Oh that smile. "So what was the dream," Minho says again.

"Um," I say,"can I trust him?" I say, directing the question toward my sister. She nods. I take a deep breath and am about to start when Potato-Face walks in. I grimace as he runs over Newt and I's state. His hands still around my waist. He scowls.

"What are we talking about," he says, visible annoyance in his voice.

"Greeny's dream," Newt responds, not making eye contact with Gally. Potato-Face nods.

"As long as she's talking," Potato-Face says with a smirk.

"You tryin' to get punched, shank?" Newt says, his jaw locked. I blush again.

"Newt, shut your shucking mouth," Gally says.

"Shut YOUR shucking mouth, slinthead," Minho interjects

"I'm still here ya know!" I snap. Newt nods and so do some of the others. "Like I was saying," I glare at Gally,"at first, everything was dark. Like nothing was there. The world was literally done. I saw this little speck of white light and it grew until it almost, encased me. I was blowing around in there. Yes, blowing. There was a powerful wind coming from, well, no where. The two colors were swirling together making, images. They were horrible. Suddenly, I was somewhere. It was hot and dusty. No plants, no animals, and no humans. That is, until I heard the screams. People were screaming. They were barely people. There close were ripped and there skin was a shredded mess of gashes. They kept calling themselves Cranks. And," I gulp. Newt tightens his grip snigger around my waist. As if he felt comfortable doing this. My body erupts in goosebumps as the warmth of his hands spread throughout me. I look right into his eyes and take a deep breath,"they kept screaming for me to kill them. That's when I started screaming. If that's why your here?" Newt nods and I begin to cry again. He pulls me into his chest again, stroking my hair.

"It was just a dream," he says, but I can hear the distinguished sound of strain in his words. I could see it in the others faces. All except Lizzy, who looked as clueless as me. "Just a dream. Nothing but a dream," Newt soothes.

But in my head I know, that was anything but a dream.
