"We should split up, there's a less chance of the Grievers finding us," I say looking up at the maze walls.
"Are you insane? I'm not leaving you!" Minho says. He knows that I'm right.
"I know, but we have better chances if we go off on our own," I say looking over at Minho.
"What about Alby?" Thomas asks. I look at the unconscious Alby laying on the ground. I think for a moment.
"Where should we put him? We can't carry him around, he'll slow us down," I look around the maze walls again and see the vines. "The vines, we could tie him up in the vines."
"How do we do that?" Thomas asks.
"C'mon," I say and walk over to the vines. I pull on one to see how sturdy it is. A few should hold Alby. I check a few more and have six vines picked out. Eventually we get Alby high enough and I hear a Griever roar in the distance. Well, it sounded more like a screech.
"We have to go," I say securing the last vine and walking away. Minho nods. He walks up to me and holds me in an embrace.
"I love you," he says and kisses me. I kiss him back and we pull away.
"I love you too," I say and run off in the Maze. I start at a jog to save my energy for when I come across one of the dreadful Grievers. I jog through the corridors of the Maze, waiting for a Griever to pop around the corner asking for hugs. I might as well have a free hugs sign on my back because I know I'm not going to make it. But there is no harm in trying. I'm not just ganna give up. I laugh slightly imagining a kawaii Griever hop around the corner and get really happy at seeing me and run over to give me a big hug. I take a right and hear a Griever not far away. I slow to a stop, trying to figure out which way to run. Then I see it come around the corner up ahead. It's a horrifying sight. I turn and run as fast as possible in the opposite direction. It chases me through the Maze and I think I'm starting to lose it when I see Minho up ahead, running towards me.
"Other direction, a Griever is behind me!" I shout to him. He continues to run towards me.
"Same!" He shouts back.
"Shit!" I yell. We meet in the middle and I give a worried look to Minho. "What do we do?" He doesn't answer for a second and looks up at the walls.
"Climb the walls," he says and walks over to some thick vines that go pretty high. We start up and the Grievers come around the corner at either side. We climb faster and get pretty high. I don't think the Grievers see us on the walls. Minho and I are holding on to the walls as the Grievers look around, confused, below us. My arms start to shake. I'm losing my grip and my hands begin to feel numb.
"Minho," I whisper looking at my hands.
"What?" He asks, also whispering.
"I can't hold on," I look at him, a pure look of terror on my face as I begin to slip. Minho acts fast and grabs my arm with one hand and holds on with the other as I fall. I let out a small shriek and the Grievers hear. They begin to climb the wall.
"Dammit," Minho says and he pulls me up and I try my best to hold on. We start to climb down frantically and go off to the sides of the climbing Grievers. Me on the right, Minho on the left. I'm almost to the ground when the Griever comes after me. It swings one of its weapons at me and it grazes my arm. I yell out in pain and start to climb faster. I fall to the ground about 10 feet away from it. I feel something move in my ankle and pain shoots up through my leg. Like I said, I won't make it. I try to stand up or at least get away from the Griever coming at me but Minho pulls me into his arms and starts to run.
"Minho," I say,"leave me here. If you take me you won't make it and the Gladers need you."
"I won't leave you," he says,"I need you." I'm to weak to argue and he runs through the corridors of the Maze and I fall into a daze.
When Minho shakes me I wake up more. I'm weak from the night. I notice a gash on Minho's arm and instantly start to worry about him. He notices.
"I'm fine," he says,"don't worry about me," I nod and look up at the sky. It's lighter out.
"Minho," I say looking up at the sky still. "We made it. we survived." he looks up at the sky also.
"Yes, we did," he says and chuckles. Thomas is with us also. We make our way back to the Glade, after getting Alby. We're almost there when the doors open. I hobble around the corner with the help of Minho and Thomas and see Alice standing by the door crying with Newt comforting her and some other Gladers walking away from the door.
"Alice!" I yell, my voice weak. She looks up and is shocked when she sees me. We hurry to the door and Alice hugs me. I hug her back and finally relax. She says something but my vision is blurry and everything seems dull. I collapse to the ground and am swallowed by darkness.
