Matt's Pov
The bell screams, and it's time for illusions, so I start walking to my locker, and draw a circle in the air, making it spit up my Illusions spellbook, and putting back my Healing spellbook. It grabs onto my hand as I do. "Hey! Let go!" I say and kick it.Gus comes rushing up behind me and uses one of those weird glyph thinga-ma-bobs that human uses instead of magic, to make a thorn vine sprout out of its mouth. And it lets go of my hand.
"Thanks," I say, shaking off the slobber on my hand. "Agh. This sucks. Mother of Titan!" I turn my hand over, and there's a giant bite mark from my locker. Gus looks at it, and when he grabs my hand, I wince. He says, "Ooh, that's gonna hurt. Let's get you to the Healing Track."
As we walk together to the Healing Track, Gus continues to hold my hand. His hands are so cold. Usually, witches' hands are warm, from having to create spell circles and having the blood, from our magic sacks, flowing to our fingers, but his are actually pretty cold. I stare at him, as we walk down the hallway
He looks at me, "What? Do I have an apple blood- stache? Oh, Titan. Where?" He starts rubbing his face, "Did I get it?" He asks, nervously. I laugh, and he flusters up. "No, that's not it." "Well, then what?" He asks.
I was about to say something really embarrassing, so I just shake my head, and hold out my hand, "Nothing, let's just get to the Healing Track, and fix this." I smile, and he smiles back. He grabs my hand again, and we walk to the Healing Track.
(Time skip to after school)
Gus told me to meet him at Grimgrub's Pub to talk. I don't know what's going on with him, he's being weird though. Or maybe he's just being a squirt, like always.
Or maybe not. Maybe he wants to be friends. Maybe he wants to just hang out like Luz and Willow. Huh. But, no. Something has to be going on. I mean, the only time we ever got along is when we worked together to save each other. Even then, I was always the one that got us into it in the first place. And the Detention Pit- how could he forgive me for that? I mean, I practically almost got him killed. And he saved me.
Lost in thought, I walk up to the push door, with the "Grimgrub's Pub" sign hanging above it. I've never actually been inside this place. Wonder what it looks like. I walk inside, and there's an old-timey kind of look. There's a bar and some wrinkling wood stools to sit at. Then some candles- a lot of candles. And then there are a few tables on the other side of the restaurant.
I go up to the bar, "Two Extra Virgin Apple Blood's ple- Wait, Kevin?" I ask.
"Hey! Matt. Haven't seen you since last time I went to the Night Market. What so you do there anyway?" He asks, making the drinks.
I try to ignore the question and say, "Have you seen Augustus Porter? We were supposed to meet here."
"Oh, a date? Tell me about this date of yours. Do your par-"
"NO! ITS NOT A DATE!" I say. "Sorry. Not a date." I pull over my hood, trying to cover up the blush forming on my ears. " Have you seen him?" I ask, grabbing the two drinks. He points to a table in the corner of the small room. He's sitting there, talking to one of his illusions of himself, it looks like.
I walk up to him, and place his drink down next to him, "Hey..." The illusion puffs away. He looks up, "He- Hey Mattholomule." He says nervously. "Hey," I say sitting down across the table. "What were you talking about?" I ask suspiciously.
