Why Would You Let Me Go?

I can't look down. I don't know how I know but if I look down I will let go. My fingers claw against the cliff desperately trying to hold on for dear life. I'm crying, sobbing and I can't stop. I know I'm going to die, but I still hope... hope he'll save me.

"Doctor!" I cry out. "DOCTOR!"
I stare up above me at the sky full of stars, lighting up the dark.

"DOCTOR! HELP!" I hate those stars. I want to tear them out of the sky.

"DOCTOR!" My arms are getting weak. I can't hold on. My fingers start to slip.

"CLARA!" My heart leaps. He found me.

"DOCTOR!"

"CLARA HOLD ON!" His voice is so close. I have to hold on. But my fingers aren't obeying.

"DOCTOR! HURRY!" One finger slips... then two.

"Clara," his head pops over the side just as one of my hands slip off. He catches it holding on tightly. His floppy hair hangs down in front of his eyes that are brighter then any star ever born and shinning with unshed tears. I wrap my other hand around his. Now I'm hanging off of him. His hands quickly grip my forearms to make it easier to pull me up. Even though I'm on the verge of falling to my death I smile, already believing that I'm saved. His eyes flick past me to where I didn't want to look, but I also want to know how far down I would have fallen if-

"Clara, do you trust me?"

"Yes." Too late I realize what he meant to do. He let go. I watch him as he grew smaller, my mouth open in a silent scream as the darkness swallows me whole.

"Clara? Clara! Wake up Clara, you're having a dream." I sit up almost smaking my forehead on the Doctor's. My chest hurts and I can't stop shaking. It felt so real. So so real. The Doctor holds my shoulders, then cups my face in his warm hand.

" Why would you let me go?" I whine, still shocked that it happened, that he would... but he didn't. The confusion is clear on his face and in his innocent eyes.

" Were you dreaming about me? Did I do something to hurt you?" The Doctor's voice sounds so pained that I couldn't bare to tell him.

"No. No I don't even remember what I was dreaming." He removes his hand from my cheek, along with all his warmth.

"Oh, are you sure you don't want to talk about it. You were whimpering and saying my name-"

"What are you doing in my room?" I didn't want to talk about it. It was just a dream.

" The children let me in. Said you were in your room. So I came up here and you were still asleep so I just sat and waited for you to wake." The Doctor points to the chair by the window where he supposedly sat.
I glanced at the clock and back at him.

"Doctor, it's 6:17 in the morning, on a Saturday. You're telling me the children were awake and let you in?"

"Yes." His face is turning red and the corners of his mouth keep twitching like he's trying to decide if a smile would make his story more believable. I shake my head and toss the covers off of me, revealing my white nightie.

"So?"

"So what?"

"So why are you here? Hopefully not to gawk at my nightie."

"I wasn't gawking at your nightie!" He exclaims in an "I would never" voice as he adverts his eyes. I giggle as I wrap my robe around me, in a much better mood then when I woke up.

"I'm here to take you on another adventure."

"We have a schedule Doctor," I tell him while rolling my eyes.

"I know but this one couldn't wait."

"How many times have I heard that before?"

" But this place is marvelous! You absolutely have to see it. I'm taking you. No arguements."

"Alright, get out so I can get ready." I am giddy with excitement. Where on earth would he be taking me? No, where in the universe would he be taking me?

"I'll be in the Tardis!" The Doctor calles out as he opens the door to leave.

"Shh. Don't wake the whole house." If the Doctor heard me, he didn't respond, just closes the door. A moment later I hear the soft footfalls of him going downstairs.
