On Gallifrey:

In the old days when the Master and I were just boys, we were best friends...

Today is a field trip day. I love field trip days. My class is on a ship with windows to see the galaxy. I sit in the aisle seat cause my best friend loves the window. It was no point arguing over it because he has quite a temper. Riauen, our teacher, stood in front of the rows and rows of children.

"And here we have a black hole," she points out. I leap out of my chair and stand up to look over my friend's head. He doesn't have to move. He has the best seat on the ship. There was a choirs of whoas and wows, me included. We are a safe distance away from it but it is far from disappointing. I can make out the swirling black mass against space. It's much darker than it's surrounding. Riauen is still talking I realize.

"Black holes occur when stars die," Is what I pick up before losing interest and sitting back down. But even when the ship pulls away, my friend is still straining to look at it.

"Fascinated?" I ask him teasingly. But the truth is we are exactly alike, curious about everything. The only difference is I want to see and experience everything while he likes to linger on one thing for a long time before moving on.

"I just had a thought." He finally turns around. "Doesn't a black hole sort of look like a time vortex?"

"Never! It's much more darker and it doesn't led anywhere."

"But what if it could? What if it was altered? We would have so much more use for them."

"How would you alter them?" I ask but I don't care since I know it's impossible.

"I don't know yet, but when I do, will you go in it with me?" I roll my eyes. Ever since he got the peak at the time vortex he's been acting a bit obsessed.

"Sure." But not even five seconds later did I forget my promise.
