Me and Tara had been friends ever since she moved to New York. A requirement of being her best friend was that I followed her to any party that she wanted to go to. I love her, she's my best friend. But parties aren't exactly included in my, quite narrow, comfort zone. Sure, maybe once in a while. If I've had enough to drink so that I can talk to people without my anxiety hanging over me like a dark cloud.

But this party had too many people inside a single house. I couldn't help but feel nervous and very self concious in my halloween costume. Tara was gone, last time I saw her she was flirting with some guy. I'm really proud of her. She has really tried her best to take back her life.

The music was too loud. The people here was too drunk. I felt so out of place. I decided to go and grab another drink. Didn't want to be the cockblocking friend. The music around me were so loud, I could practically feel the beat of the music in my body.

I did my best to try and be social. Most of the people here were unknown to me, except for Tara's other friends. I drank more to try and get over the nervous feeling I had.

I saw them again after I'd downed another drink. Tara's other friends, all sitting around a coffee table. Chad and Ethan were talking, laughing and drinking. Mindy and Anika were kissing, sitting beside each other on the couch.

At this point, I had had too much to drink. I was nowhere near steady as I sat down beside one of Taras friends. Ethan, I think. Yeah that's probably his name.

I noticed that he glanced over at me, before staring forward. I haven't really thought about it before, but he's cute. Or maybe it's the alcohol speaking? Anyway.

"Hey, let's play truth or dare." Chad said, interrupting Mindy and Annikas makeout session. The other thought it was a fun idea, I nodded, not really thinking straight. Chad smiled wide, looking around.

"Hmmm, dear sister." He said, waving his hand at Mindy. She nodded and answered truth. I could see in Chads eyes that he was bored and wanted to create some drama. He wanted to see something happen. "Mindy, if your girlfriend weren't here, which girl here is the prettiest?" Chad asked, smiling.

Mindy grinned at him.

"Obviously Annika." She said.

"But if Annika weren't here."

"Fine, uhm..." Mindy looked around, saw me, smiled and then said my name. I could feel how I'd suddenly received more eyes on me than I had wanted.

"Oh, uh, thanks?" I said awkwardly, laughing a bit as Chad and Mindy did too. It's not that serious. I need to relax, I thought as I drank even more out of my red cup. I could feel Ethans eyes on me as I did.

"Okay my turn." Mindy held her hands together, eyeing the people around her. "Okay, Y/n." I looked up.

"Uhm, truth?"

"Okay, who do you think is ths most attractive person here?" She asked as she leaned back on the couch.

Usually I think before I speak. Usually I carefully consider what I'm saying before speaking. But-

"Well, Ethan's cute." I answered quickly. Ethan choked on his drink and started coughing violently. Chad hit his back a few times with an open palm. I couldn't help but laugh a little.

"Chad," I said, locking eyes on him. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare, because I'm not a coward."

"Ohoo." I said, grinning. "Okay then take three shots of tequila." I said, challenging Chad.

Let's just say that Chad wasn't feeling so good after his three shots.

Chad pointed at my, slurring my name. "Dare or dare?" He asked.

"What happened with truth or dare?"

"I've changed the rules. Now, dare or dare?" One day I wish to have the confidence of Chad. It was such a contrast from Ethan, who had remained silent after what I had said earlier.

"Well, dare?"

"Walk into the closet with Ethan for ten minutes." Chad dared me to, and the others around us talked quickly. I stared Chad intently in his eyes and said:

"Fine."

"Fine?" I heard Ethan behind me repeat in disbelief. "Y/n, I think you're a bit drunk and-"

"Shh," I said, slurring a bit on the word. "Let's find a closet." I took his hand and started dragging him through the ocean of people.

"Uhm. Okay." I heard him say, but I was so focused on trying to find us a closet that I didn't really hear him.

Eventually we found one, I opened it up and climbed ungraciously in. I waved at him to join me, and after a moment of hesitation, he did.

"Ethan. Close the door."

"Oh, yeah sorry." He closed it and suddenly, it was all dark. It was dark and the sounds from the party was now no more than a muffled sound in the background.

The closet wasn't big. Me and Ethan were standing so close that I could feel his body heat. I could feel his breath on my skin as he breathed out. He was breathing quickly, I don't know why.

My head is dizzy. But I'm still standing up though.

"That game is dumb." Ethan finally said, refering to the truth or dare game.

"Hm? Yeah I guess." I answered, and tried to move. That resulted in me accidentally touching Ethans stomach, him jumping back, and hitting his head.

"I'm sorry, but were you honest back then? Do you really think that I'm, uhm, cute?" Ethan asked. As he spoke, I could feel his warm breath on me, since we were basically no distance from each other. I nodded.

"Yeah, I do think so. I get it if you haven't thought of me that way though and..."

"Are you kidding, Y/n?"

"No?" I answered, feeling insecure all of a sudden.

"I've seen you before with Tara. And thought to myself that you are stunning. I haven't dared myself to talk to you though. Didn't want to bother you."

"Really?" I ask, looking up at him.

"Uhm, yeah. I mean I don't really know you that well but... You know, I would like to get to know you better."

I don't know if it was his words, or the tequila shots I took with Chad (empathy shots), but I suddenly had this warm feeling inside of my chest.

"Ethan, kiss me." I whispered and stepped a tiny step closer. I could feel how Ethan stopped breathing for a second.

"Ask me again tomorrow when you're sober and actually mean it. I want you to remember our first kiss."

"I will. Yeah, I'll ask you tomorrow." I said confidently, smiling and giggling at him.

The day after, I didn't ask him to kiss me. Because I was so hungover I couldn't bare exist.

Not the day after that either, because I was so embarrased by the way I had acted. Ethan waved at me from across campus. Hesitantly, I waved back. Which made him smile.
Suddenly I didn't feel so embarrased afterall.

This may have been a bit cliche, but it seems like every fanficition has a truth or dare scene so I wanted to be like the other kids and do one too. Hope you liked it! I imagined that this would take place a while before halloween, before the events of the movie. Thanks for reading!
