I pace nervously around the living room, waiting for my girlfriend's family to arrive.
So many things could go wrong; they could hate me, could disapprove of our relationship, think I'm not good enough for Lizzie, think I'm only with her because-
"Will you stop pacing? You're making me nervous." My girlfriend states as she grabs me by my shoulders. I look into her eyes feeling myself calm down. "It's fine, okay? They're gonna love you, just like I do. Well maybe not exactly how I do but you know."
We both laugh, I take a deep breath resting my forehead against hers.
"I love you," I say placing a kiss on her nose watching as she scrunches it with a cute smile. "And you look incredible in that dress."
"I love you, more." She replies pulling me into a soft kiss. "And you look very handsome." She says buttoning a few of the buttons on my shirt.
Then the doorbell rings and I jump, my nerves returning. "Love? Baby!" I jump again at Lizzie's raised voice.
"It'll be okay, okay? Take a deep breath." She commands softly and I do as told. "Better?" She asks I nod my head as she goes to open the door.
I flatten out my clothes with my hands feeling slightly more cautious of how I look, than my hair. God!
My hand flies to my hair, trying to fluff out any tangles that could be there.
My hands fall back to my side as I hear footsteps coming into the living room. As I try to look as natural as possible.
Lizzie walks over to me with a wide smile grabbing my hand. Pulling me over to the three new figures in the room.
"Mom, this is Y/N." I reach out to shake her head, as she gives me a comforting smile. "Y/N these are the twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley."
"H-hi." I stutter reaching out a hand for both of them. "It's nice to meet you all."
"You too." Says Mary-Kate. (I think) "You don't have to be so nervous." God, I was that obvious? "And yes I am Mary-Kate."
How the hell? "Dinner should be done in a bit, I'm gonna go check on it," Lizzie says, I turn to her with a panicked look. "It'll be fine." She whispers to me, I reluctantly let go of her hand.
The four of us sit down on the couches. In silence until Ashley breaks it. "So, Y/N, what is it you do for work?"
"Oh, um, I'm a singer," I answer as my leg starts to bounce.
"Do you like what you do?" Her mom asks, I nod.
"Yeah, I love it," I answer truthfully. "I don't like how it keeps me from Lizzie though, that's one I could do without."
"That's fun. When did you know you wanted to be a singer?" Asks Mary-Kate. "Or is that something that just kinda happened?"
"No, uh, I've always loved music," I respond. "I'm sure if I asked my mom, she would have tons of videos of me in my underwear singing around the house."
They all laugh, and I let myself relax a little. "I'm sure the same could be said for Lizzie, little troublemaker that one." Says Ms. Olsen
I smile and it grows wider when Lizzie comes into the room. She sits next to me, cuddling into my side as my arm wraps around her, and press a kiss to her forehead.
"Dinner'll be done in a couple of minutes." She announces.
"What about you're family, Y/N?" asks Ashley I feel Lizzie tense a bit in my hold. As she squeezes my thigh in a comforting manner.
"You don't have to answer if you're not comfortable." Her mom jumps in. "If it's a sensitive topic." I smile softly at her.
"No, it's fine, we'll my mom and I have a strong relationship she's like my best friend." I say as Lizzie places her hand in mine. "My uh, dad I wish the same could be said for us."
I swallow thickly. "He left right after my little brother was born." They immediately look at me with pity. I hate that. "My brother and our relationship is a typical sibling relationship, he's a pain in my ass, but I love him."They laugh at my choice of words before the timer goes off signaling that the food is done. Lizzie stands after a quick excuse me.
"I'm gonna go help her." I excuse myself going into the kitchen after her. "Need any help?"
She turns to me with a smile, nodding. "I gotta get the roast out of the oven then reheat the sides."
"I'll get it you handle the sides," I say and she places a kiss on my lips before moving to the sides.
I put on oven mitts getting the roast, out, as Lizzie finishes with the sides.
"This looks amazing babe." I compliment, as she beams a smile. "Smells even better."
"Are you're nerves any better?" She asks softly. As she grabs a bottle of wine.
"Yeah, they've subsided a bit," I respond. "Still there but not too bad."
She takes my hand in hers, using the other to cup my jaw, and I melt into her touch. Staring into the pair of eyes I fell in love with.
"I love you so much. Thank you for being here." I give her a questioning look, she must've got it. "I mean you didn't have to meet you could've put it off but you took the step, so thank you."
I place a kiss to her lips before saying, "I would do anything for you. I love you more." I place another kiss on her lips.
We pull apart when someone clears their throat, we look over to be met with smirking twins. I felt slightly embarrassed and turned my head away.
"So that's what was taking so long," Ashley says, while Mary-Kate laughs at her little sister's flustered state. "Well don't let us interrupt, we'll be out there starving."
She draws out the last word, pulling Mary-Kate away snickering. I look over to Lizzie her face in her hands shaking her head.
"I hate them." She says amusingly. I laugh softly. "We better get the food out there before they have a fit."
Once we get the food on the kitchen table, we call everyone in to eat. I sit at the head of the table with Lizzie on my left, the twins on my right and their mom at the end.
"So, Y/N, where d'you see yourself in five years?" Their mom asks. I gulp, as I look at her.
"Well hopefully married and still doing what I love," I answer truthfully. "Is marriage something you see with my daughter?" She asks again.
"Yes ma'am, I can't see my life with anyone else," I answer. From the corner of my eye, I see; Lizzie look down at her plate with a huge smile on her face.
Her mom and the twins have smiles on their faces as well, as her mom speaks again, "You don't have to call me 'ma'am' call me Jarnie."
"Yes ma- Jarnie," I respond and look down at my food.
"You can me MK, you know? Short for Mary-Kate." I nod looking at MK.We finish our food and then we say our goodbyes then all that's left is to clean up. I start to wash the dishes when I feel arms snake around my waist.
"Hi, love," I say and feel her face pressing into my back.
"Did you mean it?" She asks and my eyebrows furrow in confusion. I dry my hands and then turn around to face her. "I mean about marriage, with me?" I see uncertainty in her eyes as she bites her lip.
"Of course, there's no one else for me, Olsen," I assure her. "Only you." I press a delicate kiss to her lips.
"There's no else for me either. No one." She places a kiss on my lips.
Once we finish cleaning we head up to bed, wrapped in each other's arms legs entangled, with a warm I could never get tired of.
