You hadn't seen Brie in about a week, you missed her of course you did but you were stubborn and didn't think you should apologize, you didn't do anything wrong.
She left when you two needed to talk things out which pissed you off, then tried to make it seem like you were rushing her into coming out- which you weren't.
But she tried to make it seem that way, she hadn't texted you since that day, but you saw her anytime you went on Google seeing articles sighting her out with costars.
She looked happy and it made you feel worse than you already were, and it made you wonder did she even care about you? You didn't even know if you two were still together or not you had been going out to a bar trying to make yourself feel better.
It didn't work but it gave you a temporary fix, so here you were now at a bar nursing your fifth or sixth drink- honestly, you couldn't remember.
You caught eyes with a woman across the room and she smiled flirtatiously at you, you couldn't even find it in you to smile back.
So you just nodded turning away, and a second later you felt a hand on your arm, and you lazily turned to see the woman from before.
"Can I buy you a drink?" She asked and you looked at her as if she was stupid, before gesturing to the drink you had yet to drink, "Well I can buy you another." She said and moved closer to where her body was brushing against your arm, "and maybe I could also get your number." She whispered seductively in your ear.
You didn't want to admit it but you kinda wanted to give her your number. It was the alcohol talking, you thought but a part of you was relishing in the fact that someone was giving you attention.
You start to open your mouth but someone takes hold of your other arm, pulling you up making you yelp, "shit what the fuck!" You complained as the drink you were holding spilled on your pants.
You turned angrily to the person only to see Brie, and your features softened while hers hardened, "I can't believe you!" She said angrily and you made a confused noise as she stormed off.
Making you huff angrily, there she goes running off again. You had an internal debate with yourself for about two seconds.
Go after her or stay?
You pulled some money from your pocket paying for your tab as you stumbled out in hopes of catching her, you saw a little way up the sidewalk and ran after her while trying not to fall.
"Brie!" You called out and she kept walking, "Brianne Desaulniers, stop walking away from me dammit!" She froze hearing you call her by her government name. And slowly turned around, and you caught up to her keeping a good distance between you, "Stop running away, please." You said exasperated feeling yourself sober up or at least enough to have the conversation and remember it in the morning.
"Who was that woman?" She asked trying to ignore the look of pleading on your face, you told her that you didn't know, "So you just let some random woman touch up on you?" You shook your head angrily, already feeling yourself fed up with how she deflected the questions.
"I can't do this." You muttered turning to walk away, and your reaction shocked her, you couldn't handle it if all she was gonna do was play with your heart.
"Now who's running away?" She called out her voice cracking slightly, you didn't want to turn around, but your heart won and you did, seeing that she was closer to you than before.
"What are you doing to me? You have me on a leash, and anytime I try and pull away you pull me right back, so again I ask what are you doing to me?" You questioned feeling too many emotions at once: anger, sadness, and despair. "I never said I was rushing you into coming out to the public. I didn't say that. All I wanted to know was if you were any closer to being comfortable enough to let the world know. Obviously not."
She took a deep breath, her eyes scanning your face, and she stepped closer to you, you looked warily at her steps but didn't back away, she put her hands on your cheeks, "I'm sorry. Okay, I know I shouldn't have reacted the way that I did and I'm sorry. But it's just a lot of pressure okay?"
You nodded at her words before taking a deep breath, you brought your hands up to hold her wrists, "You're still not ready?" You asked slowly but you already knew the answer, she shook her head, and you smiled sadly, "I'm not rushing you but I can't do it anymore I'm sorry. But I can't keep hiding like this it's too stressful and I'm sure you can have anyone you want. But I just can't."
Her face fell at your words, and you pulled her hands off your face, kissing the palm of her hand, before letting them go completely, "so that's it?" She asked as tears began to build in her eyes.
"I guess so. I'm sorry Brie." You said again before turning around and leaving, and only then did you finally let a tear fall, you knew she was watching you walk away and you didn't want to seem vulnerable.
Things were way more complicated than before, or maybe it wasn't complicated anymore. You said you were done right?
You didn't know anymore, but if things were to work out Brie was gonna have to be the one to uncomplicate things, you just hoped she knew that.
